Is The SwagTron T3 Any Good? Here’s My Honest Review

The hoverboard industry is seeing a massive comeback in 2017 and this is thanks in no small part to the famous Swagway Swagtron Brand. It is no secret that Swagway has been an industry leader going by the amount of resources and extensive research that it has put in, producing excellent and safe hoverboards that are worth talking about. Their 2015 product the Swagway X1 was one of the top selling self balancing scooters in 2015, and in 2016 they’ve released two new products that have raised the bar even higher – the SwagTron T1 and the SwagTron T3.

Is There a Hoverboard Better Then Swagtron T3?

In 2017 new hoverboards have come to the market which makes the Swagtron T3 outdated. The TOP product in 2017 is the ScooterEra EXTREME. This bluetooth, offroad, robust and feature rich hoverboard puts all other hoverboards on the market in their dust.

Not only is the ScooterEra extreme a great learning hoverboard it can be used by advanced riders in the toughest of circumstances!

In a hurry? See the ScooterEra EXTREME to buy

I’ve already reviewed the popular SwagTron T1, so this article is my review of its ‘big brother’ the SwagTron T3. This exciting new hoverboard has given us a lot to look forward to and as one of the safest on the market (as well as some added extras) may well be equally popular. Let’s start by taking a look at the top features and specifications of this product:

Unboxing The SwagTron T3

Here’s an awesome video of an unboxing of this model – this includes a lot of the same info you’ll read later on in our SwagTron T3 review but some people prefer to watch a video than read! Plus you’ll see some great close ups of the product and comparison between this and the Segway Minipro.

Features and specifications

  • Smart Battery Management System – The SwagTron T3 has been fitted with a smart battery management system commonly referred to as Smart BMS. This is able to monitor voltage closely so that you are kept within the right voltage and detects overcharging of the lithium ion battery. It protects the battery from over current and short circuiting which greatly increases the safety of the product.Still on battery safety, this self balancing scooter has been fitted with cutting edge technology referred to as SentryShield. This is a system that constitutes of an air-tight aluminum chamber that contains the lithium ion battery. It serves two major roles and first one being that it protects the battery from fire. Secondly, it shields the battery from any damage. This system has passed the highest quality certification, namely the original UL 10-ton battery crush test. Keep in mind that this product broke the record as the worlds first self balancing scooter to pass this critical test to get full UL approval.
  • Features that ensure an easier ride – The SwagTron T3 promises and delivers an easier, safer ride to users. To begin with, it comes with a dual independent motor that is upgraded. Gear stabilization in the control is also evident. These features are responsible for the sturdier, more stable feel and a smoother ride in general.
  • Incombustible outer shelling – It has a shell made from proprietary polycarbonate. This material ensures that any fire threat is contained within, ensuring safety of the user. In addition, the product is strong and durable despite being very light.
  • Enhanced foot-pads – The foot-pads have been upgraded to make them wider and non-slip. The overall grip is pretty impressive and you won’t feel like you’re going to slip off when tilting the board to move.
  • Open wheel and better traction tires  – The T3 enjoys better wheel rotation thanks to the open wheels and upgraded traction tires.
  • SwagTron App for Android and IOS smartphones – As already mentioned, there is a SwagTron app that activates the third riding mode for professinal hover-board riders. Apart from this function, the app has many other cool add-ons enabling you to check route history, battery status, set routes and much more. This app is unique to the T3 as few other hoverboards on the market (including the SwagTron T1) come with this addition.
  • BlueTooth quad speakers – These speakers ensure that you listen to your favorite music as you ride along. All you have to do is pair it with your mobile device.
  • LED lights – This hoverboard comes with color-coded LED lights that are highly stylish and even customizable. Their purpose is to highlight, illuminate or indicate movement.
  • Built in Carry Strap – Users do not have to worry about moving this product from place to place because it comes with a built-in carry strap (on the bottom of the product) ensuring convenience and hassle-free carrying.
swagtron t3 carrying strap

Other specifications include a variety of colors among them black, white, blue pink and gold. The maximum weight capacity of this product is 220 pounds. The maximum speed is 8 miles per hour and it comes with a lithium-ion battery. The product comes with a charger as well. The dimensions are a height of 4 inches, width of 23 inches and a depth of 7 inches. The weight of the product is 22 pounds, which is much lighter and easier to carry than previous models.

Three Riding Modes – Learner, Standard & Pro

The SwagTron T3 hoverboard is one of the simplest self balancing boards to use. If you are a newbie to hoverboarding, then you can start with the learner mode which is slower and more stable – this is also perfect for kids. In the learner mode, the foot pad sensitivity is lower making it ideal for first-timers.

If you have bit of experience then the second ‘standard’ mode is for you. This mode sees the speed, stabilization and sensitivity on the regular setting.

And for those who are experts in hoverboard riding, the pro mode eliminates all the speed limits for the fastest ride possible. However, for safety reasons, this mode is only available through the SwagTron smartphone App.

You can easily switch between modes at the press of a button.

Is this hoverboard safe?

ul 2272 certified hoverboard

The T3 is one of the safest hoverboards on the market today. To start with, it is UL 2272 certified. There are very few products that have currently got this standard certification which is new for 2016. In fact Swagtron was the first brand in the world to get certified!  UL stands for Underwriter Laboratories who are an authority on safety standards. All the test requirements by UL were passed including overcharge, short circuit, vibration, shock, crash, drop and mold tests – the list of tests goes on and on. To check if your hoverboard is UL certified look for the UL holographic sticker  on the bottom of your product.

The product also meets the environmental standards requirements and has certifications like the UN38.3, CE, FCC, Prop 65 and RohS. This is also a zero emissions product so safe for the environment!

Which Model – SwagTron T1 or T3?

There are many differences between the SwagTron T3 and T1:

  • To begin with, the SwagTron T3 comes in a more modern and futuristic design making it more stylish overall.
  • The T1 version only comes in 2 modes unlike the T3 which enjoys three modes –  learner, standard and pro.
  • The SwagTron T3 is enhanced with a 5 level charge indicator, something that the T1 doesn’t have. This shows you where your battery power is at.
  • The smartphone app is also only available for the T3 mode and not the T1.
  • In addition, the SwagTron T3 come with the added extra of high quality BlueTooth speakers.
  • The T3 also comes with a built in carrying strap which makes for easier transportation.
  • Lastly of course there’s a difference in price – the T3 costs $100 more than the T1.

There are many pros when it comes to the SwagTron T3 – here are just a few:

  • Stylish look with a durable shell which makes the product hard to scratch and long lasting.
  • The impressive smartphone app is a revolutionary new addition to hoverboarding
  • The riding modes offer different speed limits giving every person a choice of what suits them. The learning mode is particularly useful for younger users or the older generation until they find their balance.
  • UL 2272 certification means that your product is safe and you won’t have to worry about hoverboard fires.
  • The Bluetooth speakers are an excellent way to enjoy your music as your ride.

It’s pretty hard to find anything negative to say about this product but a few things are worth mentioning. This product is slightly expensive compared to other hoverboards on the market. However, considering the new features and safety measures, the price hike does make sense – UL testing doesn’t come cheap and this particular model does come with extras that NO other hoverboard currently has.

Anther potential downside is the ability for newbies to access the pro riding mode which can lead to accidents and injuries. In this regard, the company has put out a disclaimer meaning that every user will have to take responsibility for their actions. Just follow the instructions in the manual though and  you shouldn’t have any problems.

SwagTron Price – How much does it cost?

Although more expensive than the $300 generic brand Chinese hoverboards that were for sale previously (many of which went on fire or had battery explosions), this brand offers good value for money. Especially when there are still $500-$1500 hoverboards for sale that DON’T have UL 2272 certification. Here’s what you can expect to pay (approximately):

T1 price: $399.99

T3 price: $499.99

For the most part you’ll find that the price is the same no matter where you buy (you can find SwagTron for sale at a number of different online and offline retailers). However if you purchase from the official website we can give you a $10 discount code (works on either model). Also, depending on where you buy you may have to pay for shipping.

How to get a $10 SwagTron Discount:

swagtron t3 coupon code

To get $10 off just copy the following discount code: SWAG-1894A588KSJG

Then visit the official website where you can order the product of your choice and apply the discount when you get to the shopping cart.

This will give you $10 OFF and FREE shipping.

Warranty information

The SwagTron T3 comes with a standard 1 year warranty. This warranty will cover any flaws that result from workmanship and any defects in the materials used. If you use it wrongly and cause damage then you might see your warranty become null and void so make sure to read the user manual. For example, this hoverboard should not be used to jump off sidewalks. The warranty is relevant from the date of purchase.

My final verdict on the SwagTron T3

The SwagTron T3 has definitely been enhanced to provide better safety and quality than similar products  that went before. This hoverboard brand is still one of only a handful that has full UL 2272 certfication, and that alone is a big selling point.

This is a dynamic product that gives users options for colour, multiple riding modes for different experience levels, an app, and even bluetooth. If you don’t need all those bells and whistles and are looking for something a bit more standard (and $100 cheaper) then you may prefer the Swagtron T1, particularly if you’re buying for a child.

Swagway have definitely gone the extra mile to deliver a winning product and user reviews confirm this.

All in all, this board gives you superb value for your money and is worth checking out. The brand is a reputable one and they’ve made safety and functionality priority with this great self balancing scooter.

Where to buy SwagTron?

Here’s a list of some of the retailers that stock the SwagTron hoverboard (both the T1 and T3). The price is pretty much the same no matter where you buy, although some offer free shipping and some charge for shipping.

  • The official Swagway website
  • eBay (authorized seller is ‘claimthis’)
  • Best Buy
  • Modell’s Sporting Goods
  • BJ’s Wholesale

I’ll add to this list as the product becomes available for sale at more retail outlets.

I hope you’ve found my SwagTron T3 review useful!  To read user reviews I recommend visiting or if you have questions please post in the comments section (I’ll help if I can) or visit the official website to contact their customer service.

Monorover R2 Review

A cheaper rebrand of the more upmarket priced IO Hawk and Phunkeeduck, the Monorover R2 is currently one of the most popular of the branded products, mainly due to the fact that it’s more affordable. This is a great little scooter and is tough and durable enough to be used on a daily basis.

The Monorover has some excellent reviews and buyers are very happy with both the price and reliability of this 2 wheel scooter. Not only that but its one of the few products that comes with a decent warranty (as long as you buy from an authorised seller).

Two wheel self balancing scooters are probably one of the most popular gadgets in 2015, and they are only increasing in popularity as more and more they are being featured in the media. They are set to be a top seller for Christmas 2015 so if you haven’t got one yet, now’s the time to get saving! Our Monorover review is a just a quick overview of this product and what you get.

How Does It Work?

Just like a segway without the handle! Stand on the two footplates and tilt your weight forwards or backwards depending on which direction you want to go. You can even turn left or right by tilting one footplate forward and the other back (it does take a bit of practice) and can be used in small spaces, like indoors.

This does take a bit of practice and although some people boast of having mastered it in 2 minutes because they’ve got super balance, most people say it takes 30 minutes to a few hours to REALLY get the hang of it and be confident travelling over all terrains.

Because this is a self balancing scooter it is ‘auto’ balancing so it’s a stable ride and is safe and easy to control. Once you’ve got your balance and learn how to control it properly you’ll probably be as addicted to it as I am to mine!

Here’s what it’s like to ride:

User Comments On The Monorover R2

best money I’ve ever spent

all the capabilities of the IO Hawk for 60% less

it’s so much fun but it does take some practice in the beginning

this thing is heavy so make sure you’re not going to run out of charge and end up having to carry it

a definite attention grabber – I rode this down the park and everyone was asking me about it

goes over dirt, cobblestones, pavement and grass and can go over bumps up to an inch high

amazing and smooth, perfect for college students and getting around campus

Monorover vs IO Hawk vs Phunkeeduck

They’re all pretty much the same but vary alot in price (the other two cost $1500+ whereas you can get your R2 for around $400. The quality and build is the same – most people probably wouldn’t even notice the difference.

Product Overview

  • Weight: 10kg
  • 3 hours to charge battery – 17-20km travel range per charge
  • Maximum safe speed: 12kmph (after 18kmph an alert will be sounded)
  • Battery Capacity: 36V/4.4AH
  • Maximum load: 100-120kg
  • Warranty: 1 year and 30 day money back guarantee (only from authorised sellers)
  • Recommended age: 14+

  • Same as all the other brands of self balancing scooter – Monorover R2 is great fun to use, environmentally friendly, great to use as a personal mobility device for getting around faster etc.
  • Is safe, easy to learn, and is light and portable
  • This is more affordable than similiar models that cost $1000 more. You get the same product (just rebranded) but without the hefty price tag.
  • Comes with a 12 month warranty (if you buy from the official website) – most unbranded/generic models only have a 30 day warranty.
  • It’s safe to use – with a UL certified battery and charger this is one hoverboard that won’t go on fire! The company have submitted the R2 for UL testing to obtain UL 2272 certification so they should have this too in the near future.
  • Ships to UK and EU as well as the US.

  • Like all the other 2 wheel scooters the main con is not being able to mount a kerb. You can ride over uneven ground, cracks in the pavement etc. but when you reach a kerb you’ve got to stop and lift your scooter.
  • Scooters are easily scratched if you don’t look after them.
  • Can’t use in inclement weather. Splashes of water are okay, but they’re not completely waterproof so if it’s raining, keep your scooter at home.

Available Colors

It comes in  black or white.

The scooter comes with everything you need (batteries included etc.) so you don’t really need to buy anything else. However there is a carry case available that alot of people buy as an easy way to carry their scooter around.

Where To Buy Monorover R2

These are flying off the virtual shelves at the moment and the best place to buy is on the official Monorover website.

It’s currently on sale there for just $239 (I paid $599 when I bought mine!) Monorover R2 is one of very few hoverboard brands that ship outside the US so if you’re in the EU or UK you can also order.

If you need to buy more than one (e.g. as gifts for your kids) you can get your hoverboards for even cheaper as there are discounts on the official website if you’re buying 2 or more!

Final Thoughts

The Monorover R2 ticks all the boxes. It’s affordable (compared to similar models that cost $1000 more), it’s reliable, and comes with a good warranty. This is the model I have myself, and I’ve never had a single problem with it. In fact it’s a model I would recommend without hesitation.

Okay it’s not as cheap as the unbranded products, but Monorover’s warranty makes this a safer investment. For me the IO Hawk and Phunkeeduck just aren’t worth the extra money as they’re almost exactly the same product. If you’ve got the money to spare and are in the market for a two wheel self balancing electric scooter you can’t go wrong with this one.

Packgout 2 Wheel Self Balancing Scooter Review

If you are looking for a self balancing scooter, the Packgout scooter isn’t the worst on the market. In fact, if you are looking for something that is reasonable value for money AND comes with mostly good reviews, this is definitely one to take into consideration. This Packgout self balancing scooter review will tell you all that you need to know about this particular model.

This is one of many two wheel balancing electric scooters that are available at the moment, designed to give you a fast, fun and hassle free ride. Apart from this, the scooter is also very easy to control and use. You can also use the scooter in a very narrow space due to the zero radius turning. Have you ever used any scooter that allows you to turn 360 degrees on the spot while you are standing? Well, this scooter really does that and more. Above all, it offers you an effortless riding experience with minimal learning time.

How does it work?

packgout scooter

The Packgout self balancing scooter is extremely user friendly and easy to use. To ride the scooter, all you need to do is simply step on top of the board and you are good to go. It works on two wheels and two motors along with the double balancing system that keeps you in place and prevents you from falling.  You accelerate the scooter simply by applying pressure with your foot and leaning slightly forwards or backwards. You use your feet for rotating, accelerating and for braking smoothly.

User Tips

Before you hit the road, it is important to practice riding for at least 15-30 minutes in a safe environment. You need to continue this until you can balance yourself comfortably. By moving the body and feet backwards, you will be able to move forward and vice versa. It is also important to maintain proper body posture. These scooters are perfectly safe to use, but only if you use them carefully and as advised by the manufacturers. It is possible to fall off and do yourself (and your scooter) some damage if you don’t treat it with respect!

Who can use this two wheel balancing scooter?

The biggest benefit of this scooter is the fact that it can be used by riders of all ages. In fact, anyone aged between 14 years to 45 years of age can easily enjoy riding this scooter without any worry – if you’re older or younger than that you can still use the scooter but you should seek a little help from a partner to make sure you don’t fall off (until you find your own balance). You simply need to check the power level and the tire before the ride, that’s all.

The features at a quick glance

  • Extremely safe to use. The double balancing feature helps to keep you balanced at all times.
  • Very easy to learn. The robust and anti slip body makes it suitable for both adults and children.
  • Comes with high power motors of about 500 watt.
  • Offers long endurance of about 17 km to 25 km range on one charge.
  • Includes a smart scooter carrying bag. Easy to carry the scooter whenever and wherever you want.
  • Takes two to three hours only for full charge

  • It is extremely fun to ride this scooter
  • Offers you a smooth ride and is easy to learn
  • Quite cheap and affordable compared to a smart pro scooter
  • Minimal learning curve – you’ll be a pro after riding this for about an hour
  • Suitable for all age groups
  • Comes in a number of different designs and colors
  • Alerts you when 15 or 20 minutes left of the charge – this is a very useful feature that not all scooters have
  • Price is very affordable

  • The initial two minutes can be quite dangerous if you are riding it for the first time – you need to be very careful!
  • Durable but prone to wear and tear like scratches (as are all of these two wheel scooters)
  • Not suitable for riding on rocky surfaces or mountains – stick to smooth pavement or light gravel

What customers are saying:

packgout scooter review

The reviews for this scooter are mostly positive. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a few negative reviews, because there are a few one star reviews too. Unfortunately with all these scooters, there seem to be a few duds, no matter who the manufacturer or seller is. The main thing to remember is that there IS a warranty (double check with your chosen seller to make sure they offer a valid warranty because not all sellers do).

Overall verdict

Looking at the features, the pros and the cons of the Packgout self balancing scooter review, you can assume that this self balancing scooter is extremely useful and suitable for a fun ride. At such an affordable price this product is a really nice buy and a must have for anyone who wants an easy way to get around as well as for kids who enjoy riding.  It’s far from the most popular scooter, but is a good one if you’re looking for a pocket friendly self balancing scooter – just make sure you order from a seller that offers a warranty (this should be at least 6 months).

Locas W1 2 Wheel Self Balancing Scooter Review

locas w1

The Locas W1 self balancing scooter is one of the many two wheel electric scooters available at the moment. The price and specs are pretty similar to many others on the market and for the most part this seems to be a pretty good product with a 6 month warranty. It’s not the most popular scooter available but it’s still good value for money and even has a few extra features that some other models on the market don’t have. This Locas W1 scooter review will tell you everything you need to know about this product.

First let’s take a quick look at what you get:

  • Comes in 6 different colors – black, gold, white, green red and blue
  • Weight: 10kg
  • Maximum speed: 10km/h
  • Maximum load: 100kg
  • Maximum distance (when fully charged): 10km
  • Maximum climbing angle: 20 degrees
  • Battery: Li-ion battery 36V, 4.4AH
  • Charging time: 1-2 hours
  • Range per charge: 20-30km
  • Size: 584 x 186 x 178mm

  • No pollution and low power consumption
  • Battery status display (not all models have this and it is quite useful – most scooters run for about 30 minutes before needing charged, but it’s convenient to know exactly when your power is going to run out).
  • Auto power off if you lose control (another good feature that not ever scooter has – especially good for younger or older riders who may be a bit unsure with balance)
  • It is small, lightweight, and portable.
  • It does have a reasonable warranty – 1 year for the main board and 6 months for the motor and battery
  • This comes with a FREE noise cancelling headphones and a FREE carry bag!

  • Like every other scooter currently on the market it scratches easily.

What Are Customers Saying?

There are very few Locas W1 two wheel self balancing electric scooter user reviews for this product yet so it’s hard to judge whether or not this is a good buy. The truth is that it’s far from the best rated. There are a few positive reviews though, and those that rated it highly are very happy with their scooter. There are a few negative 1 star reviews – some people find that the board broke easily and there’s a review stating that it stopped charging after just 2 days.

The Locas W1 has mixed reviews but for the most part seems to be quite a good scooter with some useful features like ‘battery status display’ that not every other model has. There are a few reviewers saying theirs broke, but that can happen with any scooter (some are more easily broken than others though). There is a 6 month warranty on the motor and battery, and 12 month warranty on the board which means you can at least get a replacement if something goes wrong – you may have to jump through a few hoops first though (one reviewer stated she had to unscrew the back and take a picture of the motherboard so that they could decide whether or not to replace it). It comes with a free carry bag and free noise-canceling headphones as a nice added bonus.

Red And Black Hoverboard Segway

You can find hoverboards in many different colors. Most models offer different colors to choose from. It may get a bit hard when you look for hoverboards in a specific color combination. As most either come in one basic color or has a design along with different colors. We have picked out 3 hoverboards that you should consider if you are looking for one in red and black combination.

Our rating:

The Gyroor Warrior is a hoverboard for those that love adventures. The 8.5 inch tires are big and rugged enough for all terrains, they can take quite a beating. The hoverboard is built to provide riders a sturdy ride. It comes with a 700 watt motor that provides plenty power. With a maximum speed of 10 mph and it can travel up to 10 miles on a single charge. The design of the scooter is what will catch everyone’s eye. It has a bulky design with metal and aluminum frames. It can take a max load of uptown 265 lbs. which make this a great choice for children and adults. You will truly love this hoverboard in the red and black color combination, as much as people love sports car in red.

Our rating:

The CHO 6.5” Wheels Original Electric Smart Self Balancing Scooter is a great scooter for its price. It doesn’t have massive tires as they are 6.5 inches so it isn’t the best scooter for the more rugged terrain. But it offers features you find in higher end models like bluetooth speakers and LED lights that are quite powerful. It has a lightweight design can go upto 8 mph with a battery that lasts for up to 10 miles. The red and black design on the carbon fiber body of the scooter is quite stylish which is why this is on our list.

Our rating:

Cost: $$$

You won’t find too much of a different between the NHT 6.5” Wheel Hoverboard Electric Smart Self Balancing Scooter and the CHO 6.5” Wheels Original Electric Smart Self Balancing Scooter. They both come with similar features like bluetooth speakers and LED front lights. The one difference is the LED lights on the body above the wheel. However, it didn’t really appeal to us. Overall, this scooter is reliable with a maximum speed of 8 mph and can travel to 10 miles on a single charge.

IO Hawk Board Can No Longer Be Sold in the US. Find Out Why in this Article.

Until This Even Happened

An IO Hawk Hoverboard found via our Hoverboard Reviews page

Scroll Down to Find Out What Happened

One of the first companies to gain a name for their “Personalized Motor Transporters”, was IO Hawk. The company unveiled what many called a mini Segway, or a self-balancing skateboard/board to the delight of the technology loving crowds at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Jan 6 – 9, 2015.

The company acted quickly after the show and began selling their self-balancing scooter in February of 2015. Unbeknownst to the people who were rushing to buy the $1800 personal transporter was that at the same time a man was rushing to halt the sale of the IO Hawk board

That man, Shane Chen, was the inventor and patent holder of the Hovertrax. But what is the Hovertrax? It’s the two-wheeled evolution of the Solotrax, Chen’s electric unicycle. At CES 2015 Chen saw the I O Hawk hoverboard and told them that they were infringing on his patent. Shortly after that, Chen was suing the parent company of IO Hawk.

“There were a few [knockoffs] in the beginning. Then last year, all of a sudden there were over a hundred,” he said. “Then there were 150 of them. Now they’re not even copying us — they’re copying the copies. And they’re selling them worldwide. – Shane Chen

Fast forward to Nov 20, 2015, and Shane Chen is a much happier man. He had just won the first of many lawsuits that he has against patent-infringing companies who had little regard for his creation. The company that lost? IO Hawk. Now, anyone who willingly and knowingly sells their devices will be subject to potential liabilities.

IO Hawk price is a little high, especially for a company who gets placed into the Hall of Shame for supplier/vendors who suck! You can get an awesome  Swagtron T1 for under $500.

With six cargo containers being seized, it might be difficult buying an electric scooter this Christmas. But, don’t worry, I know where you can still get an amazing self-balancing scooter.

With his win, Chen is ready to defend his patent. The plot twist? How he’s getting sued by Segway for infringing on their patents. What will happen next?

“There were different waves of counterfeiters. They’d just reverse engineer the thing,” he said. “They’d buy it, they’d disassemble it and then make their own version.”

– Kelvin Lo
(Managing Director at Invanti, Inventist’s Beijing subsidiary)

Balancing vehicles and methods for transporting individuals over ground.

In an exciting twist in this whole debacle, Segway has decided to enter the courtroom, serving papers of their own to Shane Chen and his company  Citing pre-existing patents over Segway’s unique travel methods, the company wants damages and a permanent injunction preventing the sale of any more Hovertrax.

This means that the supply has been drastically cut short, around Christmas, when demand for toys and gifts increases 10x. Watch for initial price drops as vendors try to liquidate their supply. Then dramatic price increases across the board as the demand increases. Here’s a comparison of 6 major hoverboard brands. See 7 Hoverboards Compared

Because of how this is one of the hottest items for Christmas 2015, there should be several news outlets that pick up the story. This will also increase the amount of demand for this and other two-wheel electric scooters.

  • Don’t be afraid to buy yours now. There might not be much time left before the ones available are more than $1000 a piece.
  • It’s on sale right now for half of what it usually sells for.
  • Overall, it’s not a bad product at all, in fact, it’s quite nice in that it has a weight limit of almost 300 lbs. If you have to get a hoverboard for anyone over 250, you should consider this. Otherwise, the IO Hawk price still goes for a premium price, typically $200- $300 more than other brands.
  • For these reasons above in this IO Hawk review, I rate it 3/5 stars.

For being the nation’s biggest scooter store, you would think Razor USA would have already had a product to market. This hasn’t been the case, though with them now licensing the patent, that should change.

Razor is now selling the Hovertrax. Their first self-balancing scooter may be just what you were wanting. Check it out by clicking on the RED button.  Tell Me About Razor Scooters

The hoverboard of the stars, the Phunkee Duck

The PhunkeeDuck personal transportation device is the next era of transportation. Riding one of these will change your world. You’ve seen some of your favorite celebrities riding one. Now you can see some of the other hoverboards for sale: self-balancing scooter comparisonRazor Hovertrax Self Balancing Scooter, A Pink Hoverboard by Powerboard.

I recommend the Swagtron T1 hoverboard, see why I think it’s a top hoverboard to buy.

It’s the original personal transportation device that all the hottest names on Instagram and YouTube were seen riding this past summer.

Self Balancing Electric Scooter Review ( Hoverboard, IO Hawk, PhunkeeDuck, monorover r2 )

I check out a Self-Balancing two-wheeled Scooter that I got from Amazon. Unlike the FutureFoot, IO Hawk, Muzeli, PhunkeeDuck, and monorover r2

Riding it is as easy as standing in place. To use it, just stand on it with both feet (you might want something to hold; the first time, so you don’t accidentally fall). Then just lean forward a bit. The technology inside will sense that you are shifting your weight, and it will react.

Leaning forward, makes you move forward.

Leaning back causes you to travel backward.

Leaning to the left or right, makes you turn in the corresponding direction.

To stop just requires you to stand upright. It doesn’t get any easier than this.

The PhunkeeDuck Hoverboard weight limit is 300 lbs. That more than most other brands of hoverboard.

It has a 1-year warranty.

Don’t confuse the PhunkeeDuck with any of the cheap Chinese knockoff hoverboards that you can find elsewhere. Designed and built to a higher quality standard than other hoverboards. It has a higher top speed than many other models. It has a better battery, for a higher range over a longer period.

  • Max Weight Limit: 300 lbs.
  • Battery Charge: 6-7 hrs.

The Phunkee Duck Personal Transporter

It’s one of the most searched and well-known hoverboard brands in the US. If you’re looking for the hoverboard that your favorite celebrities have, you don’t need to look any further. They have been out of stock for a few weeks on Amazon. On the official site though, they are beginning to have them in stock again.

The Phunkeeduck personal transporter was one of the first commercially available hoverboards sold in the US.

Their promotions team was very quick to use celebrities to help promote their product.

They needed all the extra help they could get to convince people to purchase one at $1500.

The market price for a hoverboard has dropped to $400-$600 range for most of the popular brands, yet the Phunkeeduck costs $1500.

I wish more hoverboards had a weight limit of 300 lbs, but that alone isn’t worth buying a Phunkeeduck.

Save your money. If you want to get a high-quality hoverboard, get one of the StreetSaws.

If you’ve been to any major mall in the US in 2016 you’ve probably seen a kiosk selling hoverboards. The Powerboard by Hoverboard is one of the most common brands sold. In this review, I’ll cover the following topics, to help you decide if the Powerboard is the right hoverboard for you.

  • Confused by the many different brands of hoverboard that you can buy? Find out what some of the things that you should look for if you are buying a hoverboard.
  • Why should you buy a Powerboard? You’ll learn what makes this one of the best-selling hoverboards that you can buy.
  • Watch out for hoverboard prices that are too high, or too low. See how the Powerboard compares to other self-balancing scooter brands.
  • See the best hoverboard comparisons

I cover all these points and more inside this review of the Power board by Hoverboard.

The Powerboard by Hoverboard is an average performing self-balancing scooter that does little to differentiate itself from the competition. Yet, this hoverboard is sold at a great price and the company behind it has been quick to address any issues that have arisen. There may be a few hoverboards that are better than this performance wise, they can’t beat the price. You may also like the Swagtron T1 Smart Balance Hoverboard

But after looking at this in detail, it’s quickly becoming my preferred recommendation when people ask what hoverboards I recommend.

The Pink Hoverboard By Powerboard

Hoverboards are the newest craze to hit the country. Unless you were sleeping under a rock, you have seen a video or news article about them. (Probably about people falling or the smart boards catching on fire, or the massive recall of 500,000 hoverboards.)

Or maybe during your Christmas shopping this year, you saw the guy at the mall kiosk with Powerboards that he was trying to sell.

Being the savvy shopper that you are, you kept on walking.

Or did you? Maybe you stopped and checked them out, only to walk away because of the high price tag.

That’s what I did the first few times that I saw them at the mall. I just kept on walking. Then I happened to see a friend on one and thought it was pretty cool.  Fast forward a few months and suddenly I’m the guy trying to find one, but everywhere i looked i couldn’t find any reliable information.

Nobody knew anything about hoverboards. Heck, most of the people had no idea what I was talking about.

So I had to do a LOT of research trying to find one that was a good buy.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Looking at the Power board for the first time, I wasn’t awestruck or overwhelmed by how cool it was. (I might have gone numb from all the different smart boards I’ve looked at.)

It’s that same design as the Leray, the Swagway X1, the Razor Hovertrax and many other generic smart boards.

With the new certification standards, the different brands are beginning to show some differences between them, but this is still the basic hoverboard model.

The Power board Scooter is like most of the other smart boards that you can buy now. But, it seems to have a better build quality than other brands. Additionally, the battery inside seems to have more power and stamina.

For example, the Hovertrax from Razor looks and feels exactly the same to the naked eye. Who would win if you were to have a race with the Hovertrax vs. the Powerboard?

I’d say that the Hovertrax would lose. The Hovertrax has one of the shortest battery lifes. Compare the Powerboard’s 6-hours vs. the Hovertrax’s 60 minutes.

The safe bet, and my money would be on the Power board.

Now if you had to race the Powerboard vs. Swagtron T1? I’d throw my Swagtron on to charge first. But then it would be a close race to see who would win. The Swagtron and the Powerboard are very similar,  so a race would be fun to see.

Caution: your mileage may vary. A balance board’s top speed, range, and battery life all depend on several factors. Things like the weight of the rider, the terrain you’re riding on, and even the temperature can affect your scooter’s performance.

If your hoverboard doesn’t get the same performance as what the vendor promises, keep in mind that the specs they quote are for using it in an controlled lab environment.

the powerboard scooter comes in many colors

4 colors to choose from. Which color do you like best?

  • Comes in several different colors.
  • It’s got a great battery life. At 6 hrs. of charge and 60 minutes to recharge, there’s few other brands that can compete.
  • The 8 MPH is fast enough to be exhilarating, but not quite suicidal speed demon fast.
  • Sturdy build quality.
  • UL-2272 Certified Hoverboard
  • US-based company, shipping from Arizona.
  • 1 year manufacturer’s warranty.

  • Most of the brands look exactly like this.
  • The chassis shows wear and tear easily.
  • Shipping time of approximately 5 days.

What I don’t like about the Powerboard is pretty minor. The Power Board looks like it’s peers. That’s not really a bad thing, but it would be nice if there was a bit more setting it apart.

Also, as with every other brand of self balancing scooter, the underside of the chassis easily scratches. This affects every single brand I’ve reviewed so far, though there are some methods to protect it from scratching.

The six-hour battery life is one of the best features of the Powerboard self-balancing scooter. Why is this one of the best?

The Powerboard battery life of 6 hours is about 25% more than it’s competitors. That means you can keep on using your hoverboard while other brands would have to stop and recharge their batteries.

Other features of the Powerboard Scooter are standard for most hoverboards.

For example, if you were to compare the Powerboards specs vs. the Swagtron, you’d see that they are very similar. This is also why the two products are usually the #1 and #2 best-selling hoverboards on Amazon. Both of them are quality hoverboards. You’d expect nothing less from two products that were topping the Amazon sales charts for self-balancing scooters.

Here’s an analogy that I think fits the situation. Are you looking for the hoverboard equivalent of a sports car? Something that is popular and goes fast? Or are you the type of person who goes for the luxury sedan that isn’t as fast as the sports car, but it is the better driving experience?

The Powerboard is like that sedan. It might not be as well-known as Swagway/Swagtron, yet it was attractive enough to be the #1 self-balancing scooter on Amazon.

Indeed, in my eyes, the Powerboard provides a safer riding experience because it doesn’t go 10 MPH. Pairing that slower speed with a longer battery life and shorter charging cycle was an excellent design choice. You’ll have an hour minimum longer to ride your self-balancing scooter than someone with a T1. (Or more, the Hovertrax from Razor only has 60 minutes of battery life. )

I’ve looked at hoverboards day after day for the past year. In all my online travels, I have yet to find another hoverboard that finds a balancing point between my criteria that I rate them with. This is why I recommend the Powerboard most often to people. It’s got a decent price, great battery life, pretty good speed, and seems to have a decent company behind it.

Here’s a few of the questions other people had on Amazon. I’ll leave off the more retarded questions that I saw. I hope that was just people trolling. Otherwise, we might be doomed as a race.

The max weight load it can hold is 220 lbs. or 100 kg. If you’re over that you might be able to use it, but you do run the risk of breaking it.

The tires are about 6.5-7 inches. (It depends on how you measure them). They are solid and without an inner tube.

No, the Power board doesn’t include Bluetooth speakers or a remote control.

The UL certification shows that the lithium batteries were tested and that they are safe for consumers and shouldn’t catch fire or explode.

The Powerboard scooter uses a Samsung lithium-ion battery. They leave the factory with a minimal first charge. To make sure that your battery performs as designed, you MUST fully charge the battery before using. Otherwise, your battery life will SUCK. Also, never drain the battery completely, as this too also causes damage to the battery life.

As a UL-2272 certified self-balancing scooter, the Powerboard hoverboard is safe and won’t explode.

Yes, the Powerboard was included in the July 2016 hoverboard recall. If you have a Powerboard from before March of 2016, you may be eligible for a replacement/repair of your self-balancing scooter. Visit for more details.

You can find the Powerboard for sale at many local malls. Also, carries them, and you can also buy a powerboard on  Currently, Amazon has the lowest Powerboard price.

The Powerboard price is usually under $400.

I’m going to keep this area updated with troubleshooting tips and tricks for the Powerboard. If you’re having issues with yours, try some of these out first. It might save you a warranty call.

Speaking of warranty calls, if you get a power board from Amazon, I recommend their Squaretrade Protection Plan. It extends your warranty for 2 years after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. There’s no deductible, and no shipping fees to send it in. For $50 or less, you get an extended warranty for a self balancing scooter. That’s a pretty sweet deal.

The Powerboard 2.0 appears to be essentially the same as the original Powerboard. However, it is now a UL-2272 certified hoverboard, which means that it has passed the required safety testing.

As you saw, the Hoverboard Powerboard has decent speed, excellent battery life, and moderate weight. Basically, this is a smart balance board that sits in the middle of the pack when compared to others.

However, what sets this one over and above its competitors are the US-based support, the four colors it comes in, and the extra fast shipping. (Amazon could have one to me tomorrow if I wanted.) The UL certification is not a plus; it should be considered a requirement of all brands. Having said that, it is nice not to have to worry that your smart board is going to catch on fire.

The Powerboard price is excellent, coming in at under $400 at the time of publishing this article.

If you’re looking for a hoverboard to get your kids for Christmas, the Powerboard may be an excellent option for you.

If you need a performance hoverboard (I don’t think they make them, yet) then you might not want to get a Powerboard. This is the standard hoverboard. It is better than a generic hoverboard off Ebay or some other deals site because Hoverboard LLC, (the company selling the Powerboard) has become established as one of the top 3 hoverboard companies in the US.

The Powerboard by Hoverboard is an average performing self-balancing scooter that does little to differentiate itself from the competition. This hoverboard is sold at a great price, and the company behind it has been quick to address any issues that have arisen.

There may be a few hoverboards that are better than this performance wise; they can’t beat the price.

While currently out of stock on Amazon, you can find them via the official Powerboard scooter site. The Razor Hovertrax is another good alternative.
