Best 10 Cheap Hoverboards That We’ve Personally Tried and Tested

The popularity of hoverboards, often known as self-balancing scooters, has risen in recent years. Many businesses have introduced a variety of styles and models of hoverboards, making it difficult to know which one is correct for you.

Typically, if you want to experience good riding with your hoverboard, you should invest in a high-quality one. Most individuals believe that the finest hoverboards are expensive, but this isn’t always true. You can easily get a nice and excellent quality yet cheap hoverboard on the market that will provide you with an amazing riding experience.

The days of spending $1,000 or more on a hoverboard are long gone. You no longer have to spend a fortune to have a pleasant and safe ride these days. Even the most revered companies provide cheap hoverboards. As a result, if you’re on a budget, here are the best cheap hoverboards available in 2021.

Are Cheap Hoverboards Safe?

Safety is one of the most important aspects to consider while purchasing a hoverboard. If you’ve done any research on hoverboards, you already know that a number of years ago, there were numerous incidents in which electric hoverboards exploded or caught fire while charging or being ridden.

That’s why you should be concerned about their safety. You may also have been told that low-cost hoverboards are more likely to explode, but this isn’t true. There are several inexpensive safe hoverboards available.

Since the start of 2015, when tighter standards and regulations were implemented by hoverboard producers, a lot has changed. As a consequence, hoverboards have improved in quality and safety.

You won’t have to worry about safety as long as you get hoverboards that are UL certified. You might want to invest in a more expensive hoverboard, but if it isn’t UL certified, your safety is at risk. In contrast, even a cheap hoverboard with a UL certification is considerably safer than ever before.

The UL certification indicates that the product has been tested and meets safety standards.

Buying Considerations – Cheap Hoverboards

Aside from price, there are a few other factors to consider while shopping for a hoverboard. Let me go over the characteristics of a good hoverboard and the things you should avoid while doing so.

Construction of the Board

The first thing you need to consider is the hoverboard’s quality. Examine the product’s composition and see whether it can handle tough environments. What’s the use of having a hoverboard if you can’t take it off-road? It is clear that a hoverboard designed for only the smoother surfaces would not be worth buying.

Range of the Board

The next step is to assess the hoverboard’s range. Only as long as a gadget is plugged in is it effective. On the higher end, a good cheap hoverboard should have a range of 5 to 12.5 kilometers. If you want a range beyond 12.5 miles, you’ll have to go with a high-end brand with an expensive model.

Nothing is more important than your own requirements at the end of the day. What do you wish your hoverboard to accomplish? Do you want to use it to commute or just go for a ride around the block?

Support of the Board

While all of the hoverboards can traverse a smooth road or path, some roads are rough, cracked, or not well-maintained from time to time. If your hoverboard is not sturdy enough, it may not be able to support you on uneven terrain. To prevent them, invest in a hoverboard with high-quality tires and motors.

Speed of the Board

Let’s speak about the speed now! What are your expectations? How fast do you want to go on that hoverboard? How much speed do you anticipate? Some hoverboards have a maximum speed of 15mph, but they aren’t suitable for novices or people under 18.

If you want a hoverboard with a higher top speed, I recommend getting one that can be adjusted. It will assist you in maintaining control while travelling down the street. While all of the brands provide top speeds, not all of them have this feature.

Battery of the Board

When looking to purchase a hoverboard, one of the most crucial things to consider is the battery. Though the range indicates how strong the battery is, it’s the charging time that matters.

When the UL certification went into effect, battery charging times were shortened as a result of the enhanced battery construction. What you’re looking for is a hoverboard that doesn’t need to be plugged in for at least 1-2 hours. Charging time varies from model to model, but it should not exceed 1-2 hours.

Weight-Bearing Capacity of the Board

Last but not least, the weight-bearing capacity of your hoverboard is crucial. It will tell you whether or not the board was designed with children in mind or if adults can ride it as well. A cheap hoverboard should have a weight-bearing capacity of around 220 lbs.

Best Electric Longboard

best electric longboard

Check out our list of the best electric longboards of 2020 to take your skateboarding experience to the next level!

We would say skateboarding is making a comeback, but it never really went anywhere did it? Of course, carrying around a board was the epitome of cool back in the day but kids today still enjoy spending their days learning new tricks at the skatepark. However, with a rise in popularity of personal electric transportation, skateboarding was taken to the next level and went from a cool niche sport to an electric thrill ride.

Things to Consider when Purchasing your Next Electric Longboard

Buying an electric longboard is not the same as buying a regular board. While many of the considerations are the same: brand, wheels, trucks, and deck now you have to consider things like engine, battery, brakes, and remote. For someone new to electric skateboards there can be a considerable learning curve. Fortunately, here at BestERide, we are happy to take you not only through what you need to consider before you purchase, but also the best electric longboards on the market.

Deck

Decks for electric longboards come in many shapes and sizes. In general, there are three main things to consider when looking for a deck for your electric longboard: shape, flexibility, and wheelbase.

Shape

There are many different options when it comes to the shape of your electric longboard. The first option is to have a directional board or a symmetrical one. A directional board is one that has an obvious front and back and a symmetrical board is the same shape all around. Of course, no matter what shape you choose your board will still have an established ‘front’ and ‘back’.

The difference between these shapes is that directional boards are ideal for downhill boarding, carving, and cruising.  Symmetrical boards are more often used in freestyle riding.

One of the biggest considerations when picking out your deck is the shape or concave of the board. This shape is important to most riders because it is important to keep the rider put on the board.

Flat: while a flat board may give more room on the board for your feet, it is not a good idea for e-riding. You need some shape to your board to give your feet an idea of where they need to stay on your board.

Radial: A radial shape has a distinct U-shape curve. The depth of this curve will vary between decks, but it is the most common of all deck shapes. This concave shape is popular amongst skaters because it gives the rider a better grip on the board.

Progressive/Flat cave/Tub: There are two adaptations of the radial shape called progressive and flat cave/tub. These are just variations of a radial shape. The progressive shape has a flatter and deeper curve with a rounded curved edge and the cave shape is also flatter but with an angled edge.

The W Concave: This is another popular shape with skaters. Just like its name, the W-concave is a W shape double concave that keeps the rider’s feet on the board. Skaters like this shape because it gives a lot of grip. The only downside is that this shaped deck is often only found on the more expensive models of boards.

Wheelbase

The wheelbase is the measurement between your board’s inner mounting holes and measures the distance between where your front and rear sets of wheels are mounted. Typically this measurement is between 13’’ and 15’’ on an electric longboard.

These numbers are important as they will affect the stability and turning radius of your board. A wider wheelbase will increase the stability of your board, but it will also cause a larger turning radius. If you can get comfortable with a narrower wheelbase it will make turning easier on your board.

Flexibility

The thin layers of wood and other materials used to make an electric longboard deck and called ply. The more layers of ply (and the materials used) will determine the flexibility of the deck. Generally, the fewer layers used in the deck, the more flexibility it has. Flexibility in a deck helps absorb vibration when traveling over uneven surfaces. It is also ideal for carving. A stiff deck offers more stability when traveling at higher speeds. However, it does not absorb vibration and therefore the rider will have a less comfortable ride when riding on uneven asphalt.

Brand

The brand is an important consideration when purchasing an electric longboard because a well-established brand with good aftercare will provide far fewer headaches than a generic online brand. Also, a warranty isn’t worth the paper it is printed on if the company won’t be in business next year.

Quality Components

Often when purchasing an electric longboard, skaters feel they need to choose between quality components and price. However, many budget boards can still offer good value for your money.

Wheels

Wheels are one of the most important features to consider. After all, wheels are what connect you to the ground when you are on your electric longboard. Cheap wheels can chip, flake, or disintegrate which can be dangerous and even cause you to fly off your board.

There are two main types of wheels: generic wheels and clone wheels. Generic wheels are branded wheels that will give you more speed, mileage, and lifespan. Generic wheels are of poor quality and should be avoided if at all possible.

Motor

In most electric longboards you will either see a belt-driven or hub motor. There are a few main differences between the two, most prominently the location of the motors. A belt-driven motor is located on the underside of your board and a hub motor is located within the wheels. Both options have some pros and cons.

Hub Motors

Hub motors are noticeably quieter than belt-driven motors as they are located within the wheels. This is an important consideration for those who live in an area where electric skateboards are not permitted and want to keep their e-ride inconspicuous. As the motors are inside the wheels, they are less exposed to the elements. Often sand and other debris can get caught in the belt of a belt-driven motor and cause it to seize up. This is not a concern with hub motors. Also, the maintenance is often more straight forward since they can simply be swapped out.

However, as hub motors are located within the tire it does limit the amount of polyurethane that can be added to the tire and often results in a less comfortable ride. Also, hub motors also mean that you cannot swap out your tires on your electric longboard.

Belt Drive Motors

Belt-driven motors exist outside of the wheels, therefore they offer the rider more choice when it comes to the size, color, and durometer. Their ability to offer a thicker layer of urethane makes them more comfortable with a better grip.

These motors also offer the rider the option to customize things like torque, range, and top speed by changing the ratio of either your supplied pulleys or adding customized pulleys.

However, the fact that the motor is more exposed leaves it vulnerable to debris which can cause the motor to seize. Also, the operation of a belt-driven motor is usually noticeably louder so it is harder to ride under the radar in areas where electric longboards are not permitted.

Battery

Your longboard’s battery is an important consideration. Choosing an electric longboard with a quality battery will help you get the most speed and mileage out of your board. The difference in battery quality between a generic brand and a name brand is similar to the difference between batteries from the dollar store and name-brand batteries.

Look for a board that discloses the name and statistics for the battery.

In addition to the quality of the battery, you also want to consider the range. The range represents the maximum distance your board can travel under ideal conditions. This does not represent the distance you will get out of your board from day to day. The range will vary based on the weight of the rider, terrain, wind conditions, and more.

If you plan on using your electric longboard to commute, you want to look for a light board with a good range. Also, check how long your charge time is. The amount of time it takes to charge a board can vary from a few hours to most of your workday so it is important to know this information before you buy.

Try Before you Buy

One comment that we hear over and over in the e-ride community is that many riders wish they could have tried out their board before purchasing. This makes sense since so many features on a board come down to personal preference.

While there are not many opportunities to do this, one company does offer this option. Friend With A is a company in the United States that allows riders to rent quality rides and there also lets e-board owners rent out their rides. This is a great opportunity to try out different types of boards before making a large investment.

This is also a nice feature since many areas with poorly serviced or roads with a lot of gravel need larger tires as well. The all terrain wheels have been speciality designed to help absorb the vibrations and shocks from the ground with specialty placed holes to widen the tires and act as a buffer between the ground and the board.

The H20T uses hub motors that can reach a maximum speed of 26mph / 41kmh and has a top range of 15 miles / 24km. Hoverboard Troubleshooting not Charging

Hoverboard Troubleshooting not Charging

Does your hoverboard refuse to charge? Check out our guide to easily troubleshoot this common issue.

Hoverboards or self-balancing scooters is fun way to travel. You may want to use your hoverboard as a green mode of transport, a cool way to commute. No matter how you use your personal transportation vehicle one thing is for certain, they are much more fun to ride than to carry.

hoverboard

This is why it is important to know your battery level before you go for a ride. In addition to knowing the battery level, keeping your charger at hand and knowing how far your hoverboard can travel on a single charge can help prevent unexpected power loss.

However, sometimes our hoverboards can throw us for a loop when they refuse to charge. In those instances, we need to troubleshoot to determine exactly what could be causing the problem.

How to Troubleshoot a Hoverboard that won’t Charge

hoverboard not charging

While it is not always the case, many hoverboard chargers have built in indicators to help you troubleshoot. Take a look at your charging cord to see if there is an indicator light.  While this is not always present on all models, it is often there to help with this common hoverboard issue.

When you plug your charging cord into an outlet the light should turn green. This is to indicate that the charging cord is functioning properly. If your charging cord has a light but it does not turn green that is your indication that your cord is likely the issue.

If you have plugged your cord into an outlet and it has turned green it is time to plug it into your hoverboard. Once the cord is plugged into your hoverboard the light should turn red. If the light fails to turn from green to red it could indicate an issue with your charging port. Make sure the charging port is clean and try again.

This could also indicate that the issue is not within the charging or battery. You can check your battery for a charge using a voltmeter. A fully charged battery is between 36 and 42 volts. If the battery is fully charged then your issue likely lies with the motherboard. This is a fix best left to the professionals. However, if your issue is your battery it is much cheaper just to order a new one and swap it out. Here is a quick video demonstrating how to change the battery in your hoverboard.

If the light turns red and stays red despite being plugged in for the full charging time it could indicate a more complicated issue within the motherboard. Again, for these more complex issues we suggest contacting your hoverboard’s manufacturer for repair options rather than attempting to fix the issue yourself.

Gotrax Hoverboard Troubleshooting

Gotrax Hoverboard Troubleshooting

Troubleshoot common issues with your gotrax hoverboard with our handy guide.

There is no doubt that hoverboards are a popular and fun way to get around. While they are a fairly new technology, they are rapidly growing in both popularity and their abilities to manage different terrains and new technologies.

Of course, with any new or growing technology there are often hiccups along the way. Users need to manage the learning curve of managing their new technology and simple troubleshooting techniques.

One of the best ways to limit interruptions in your riding is to familiarize yourself with the owner’s manual before riding your self-balancing scooter for the first time. Here is a link to find the manual for your Gotrax hoverboard.

Here at BestERide we have compiled some of the most common issues found with GoTrax hoverboards and how to solve them.

Why does my Gotrax hoverboard keep beeping?

  • TWO OF A KIND – Dual hub motors unite to create 700 watts of pure electric power, pushing the V6 to speeds up to 10 mph.
  • PARTY ANIMAL – Play your music with the enhanced Bluetooth speaker, sync the LED lights to the beat, and keep the party going.
  • IT GOES ON AND ON – The powerful lithium-ion battery has a long lasting charge, keeping the V6 going for up to 15 miles.
  • EXTRA FEATURES- Get the free app to choose between 3 different ride modes, track travel time and distance, share your activity with friends, and more.

There are common reasons why any brand of hoverboard may be beeping, and also reasons that may be particular to your model of Gotrax hoverboard. Firstly, you can check out the common troubleshooting tips we have provided, or check the indications specific to your particular model of Gotrax hoverboard here.

The most common reason your Gotrax hoverboard is beeping is that it needs to be charged. Many Gotrax hoverboard models have a battery indicator light to also indicate your hoverboard needs to be charged. Beeping can also indicate uneven pressure on the hoverboard sensors. For example, only standing with one foot on your hoverboard can cause some models to beep.

Many hoverboards will typically also beep when they reach maximum speed, if they are tipped too far forward or backward or if they reach too steep of an incline.

To remedy these common issues all you need to do is place your Gotrax hoverboard on a flat surface and/or reduce your speed.

How do I recalibrate my Gotrax hoverboard?

Anyone familiar with modern technology knows the healing properties that come along with turning something on and off. When it comes to hoverboards, the magic ‘fix-all’ is called ‘recalibration’. This is a few specific actions that act as a reset for your board and can fix many common issues.

To recalibrate a Gotrax hoverboard:

Start with your hoverboard turned off

Make sure the petals are level with each other and on a flat surface.

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. You will see the LED lights start to flash.

Press the power button to turn off.

You can now turn your hoverboard back on.*

*You may need to perform a recalibration up to three times to fix your issue.

What does it mean when my Gotrax hoverboard won’t turn on?

GoTrax Edge Black Front

If your Gotrax hoverboard will not turn back on you are experiencing an issue. Through simple troubleshooting, you can attempt to determine where your issue lies and see if you need outside help to solve it.

The most obvious reason your Gotrax hoverboard will not turn on has to do with its battery. If you have tried to charge your hoverboard and it still will not turn on you need to check if there is an issue with your charger, charging port or battery.

When you plug your charger into the wall, the indicator light will turn green. This is telling you the charger is working. When you connect the charger to the hoverboard it will turn red to let you know it is charging. When the battery is fully charged it will change from red to green.

If your charger does not turn green when you plug it in, your problem may lie in your charger. If it does not change to red when you plug it into your hoverboard, your issue could lie in the charging port. Of course, you could also have an issue with your battery. It is possible to check the voltage of your battery using a voltmeter. A fully charged battery will have between 36 and 42 volts.

Here is a simple video demonstrating how to change the battery in a hoverboard if you have determined that is your problem.

If the battery is fully charged, then the issue is likely with the motherboard or wiring. You can contact Gotrax to get more information, talk about your warranty or learn about repair options.

Why is my Gotrax hoverboard not balancing?

There are many possible reasons why your Gotrax hoverboard is not balancing. Often when there are small issues like this with your hoverboard, it simply means it is time to recalibrate. You can recalibrate your Gotrax hoverboard by following the instructions above.

Best All Terrain Hoverboard

Best All Terrain Hoverboard

Find your perfect all-terrain hoverboard with our guide to the best of the best in 2020.

With adventure-rich features like dust and water resistance and heavy tread air filled tires. Hoverboards have gone from self-balancing scooters to off-road all terrain personal vehicles.

Hoverboards may have started as the result of a dream to be able to one day ride a skateboard without using any ‘manpower’ but today they are a green mode of personal transportation with endless possibilities.

Many of the newer innovations have taken hoverboards from a run ride on the road to an off-road all terrain personal vehicle. These newer models have features built with adventure in mind, from unsurpassed durability, safety features and stronger motor-power to get you through whatever comes your way.

All Terrain Hoverboards

Just like regular hoverboards, all-terrain hoverboards are not all built to the same standards or with the same features. It is important to consider all features included in the model for both safety and durability and consider how they add up to your individual needs.

While many all-terrain vehicles boast impressive features, if they aren’t durable or safe enough for your needs they will not be a good fit. It is also important to consider who will be using the hoverboard. While you may purchase the perfect fit for your personal use, it may have too much power for younger members of the family. Or you may purchase with your teen in mind but it may not have the power to carry a larger adult’s weight.

With so much to consider before what is a larger purchase, here at BestERide we have compiled the best of the best when it comes to off-road or all-terrain hoverboards. Our handy guide is designed to help you make the best decision when it comes to your next all-terrain self-balancing scooter purchase.

Which means this model has been cleared of any of the overheating issues that plagued many hoverboards in the past. Riders can enjoy this self-balancing scooter without worry.

Water and wet conditions will not affect the Halo Rover Off-Road hoverboard’s performance. It has LED lights on the front and rear to provide visibility in low light conditions as well as signal other riders or pedestrians to your presence. Going off-roading is a breeze thanks to its smartphone app which provides GPS guidance and allows you to monitor battery power.

Features

The TOMOLOO V2 Eagle hoverboard also did not skimp on safety. This model is  UL 2272 Certified for safety so riders don’t have to worry about any overheating or shock hazards that may have been associated with early hoverboards. The TOMOLOO V2 Eagle features a fire resistant outer shell makes this hoverboard fireproof, shock-proof and water resistant. It also features anti-slip foot pads. This is an important feature since even travelling over challenging terrain such as mud, snow or dirt won’t make this hoverboard overheat.

The TOMOLOO V2 Eagle is also perfect for any type of user. It boasts three different speed modes which can be controlled with its smartphone app. The TOMOLOO V2 Eagle will warn its users when they are approaching maximum speed so they are able to safely slow themselves down.

Speaking of the smartphone app, it also offers many fun features. Not only does it offer GPS support (a great option for all-terrain models) but it also gives the user an accurate read of the battery power remaining. While no one wants to be left carrying their hoverboard, at least the TOMOLOO V2 Eagle is relatively light compared to its counterparts. This hoverboard weighs in at 29 lbs.

Pros: Great safety features, three different speed modes, GPS, inexpensive

Cons: Not suitable for younger riders

3. Gyroor Warrior

Gyroor Warrior

Boasting great value and family-friendly features, the Gyroor Warrier hoverboard is a great addition to our all-terrain hoverboard list.

This all-terrain hoverboard is suitable for ages 7 and up and has self-balancing technology to help even the newest of riders quickly become seasoned experts. Not often seen on a hoverboard but a nice feature to have considering the cost of these items.

Pros: Designed for 7 years and up with child mode, IP54 Certified water resistant, can take on 30 degree angles

Cons: Does not have GPS, Max speed is 9.95 miles per hour

4. Swagtron Swagboard Outlaw t6

When it comes to hoverboards, one of the biggest limitations in enjoying these self-balancing scooters can be the maximum weight limits.

While more and more models are able to handle more than the previous 220 lbs weight maximum, the Swagtron Swagboard Outlaw t6 has really made a board that is inclusive to almost everyone. This tough, all terrain option has a maximum weight capacity of 420 lbs and a minimum weight of just 44 lbs. This means it is truly a toy for kids of all ages-especially big kids!

What sets the Swagtron Swagboard apart is its 10 inch inflatable rubber tires set on aluminum wheels. The benefit of inflatable wheels versus solid wheels is their ability to absorb shock from uneven terrain. The tires also feature a deep tread to allow its users to travel through dirt, grass, snow and even gravel.

Features

The Swagtron Swagboard features three different riding modes: learning mode, standard mode and advanced mode. Learning mode limits the speed so new riders don’t accidentally find themselves going 10 MPH, standard mode gives more freedoms and advanced mode gives the rider more fine motor control over the hoverboard and makes it easier to reach the maximum speed.

The Swagtron Swagboard has two 300 watt motors to give this hoverboard a top speed of 12 MPH and a range of about 12 miles. You can also tackle inclines of up to 30 degrees. Of course, range will vary with use so always make sure to check your battery before heading out.

Another family-friendly feature is that the Swagtron Swagboard was designed with safety in mind. It has built in LED indicators to let others know if you are stopping, starting or turning. The battery features SentryShield multi-layered battery protection, which essentially encases the battery in a damage-proof (fire-proof) aluminum casing. This is a technology exclusive to Swagway Systems. This means that no matter how hard your hoverboard has to work to get you through the rough terrain, you don’t have to worry about your battery overheating.

Pros: Able to handle riders from 44 lbs to 420 lbs, 10 inch tires, three different riding modes

Cons: Does not have a smartphone app therefore no GPS

5. FutureSaw Pro Edition

futuresaw pro

This well designed hoverboard is our top pick for fastest hoverboard in 2020, and has also found a place on this list for its off-road abilities.

One of the unique design elements of the FutureSaw Pro Edition is its unique chassis height. While many hoverboards have a standard height of only a few inches off the ground, the Future Saw Pro Edition features an unique bowed shape with a full 10 inches off the ground. This is especially helpful in off-roading when the rider may need to drive over larger debris.

Features

In addition to this unique design element, the FutureSaw Pro Edition also has a lot of speed and power behind it to make it ideal for all-terrain. The FutureSaw Pro can carry adults up to 300 lbs and hit speeds of up to 12.5 miles an hour!

It features a duo 350 w motor and advanced lithium ion LG battery to power this hoverboard as far as 12 miles with a single charge. Even though the FutureSaw Pro gives its riders between 5 to 6 hours of ride time, you can still fully charge this model in about 60 to 90 minutes!

This combo of a powerful battery and duo 350 watt motors is great for off-roading as it allows its riders to conquer up to 30 degree inclines! The FutureSaw Pro Edition also features dual bluetooth speakers and a low battery indicator so you can have tunes for your adventures.

Pros: Fastest hoverboard currently available on the market, quick charge time, long lasting battery

Cons: Does not have a smartphone app, no learning modes for beginners

Honorable Mentions

While we are very happy with the top five contenders on our list, we felt there was still room for two more honorable mentions. While the following options did not quite meet our extremely high standards, we feel they both bring some interesting options to the table that deserve some recognition.

The first is the Epikgo Classic. While the Epikgo Classic is certainly not the newest offering from Epkigo, it holds a certain appeal for riders who really want to use their hoverboards as a means of personal transportation, especially commuters. With its attractive design and all terrain abilities the Epikgo Classic is one self-balancing scooter we had to include on our list.

Features

The second honorable mention on this list is the Gotrax SRX Pro. While the SRX Pro is not able to boast nearly the speed or staying power of the other options on our list, it has some family friendly options that certainly warranted an honorable mention.

The SRX Pro features self-balancing technology with a built-in gyroscope that self levels the hoverboard whether the rider is on the hoverboard or not. This technology makes it both easy to ride for a beginner as well as easy to get on and off.

The SRX Pro also has less power and and less speed making it a safer option for younger riders. With a maximum speed of 7.4 MPH it may be an option that parents feel safer letting their children learn on.

So while our honorable mentions may not be ‘the best all-terrain hoverboards of 2020” they still may be the right all-terrain hoverboards for many of our readers.

Epikgo Classic Self Balancing Scooter

Epikgo has branded themselves the indestructible self-balancing scooter. While this claim has yet to be proven, they do boast a sleek high-end design that nods to their California roots.

While some hoverboards may be designed with teens or younger children in mind, the Epikgo series seems to be made with environmentally conscious adults in mind. Epikgo often designs its self-balancing scooters in shades that mimic those seen on cars on the road rather than bikes on the street. For example, the classic series features shades like space gray, elite silver and rose gold.

While the Epikgo outside design is attractive, it isn’t just a pretty package. This self-balancing scooter was truly designed for many different terrains.

Features

It’s 8.5 inch all-terrain solid rubber wheels are designed to easily go from dirt to grass to pavement easily. It features indestructible aluminum wheel covers and an ABS body chassis.  It is also 30 % larger than the average hoverboard to give users a stable and more comfortable ride. However, it has been noted in many user reviews that this wider body can make the Epikgo harder to maneuver.

In addition to its stability, the Epikgo Classic was also designed for safety.  The Epikgo Classic is rated IP56 for solidness and water resistance and all EpikGo models are UL2272 Certified.

While the Epikgo Classic has a lot of benefits for all-terrain use, it is limited when it comes to the newest bells and whistles that are featured on many of our newer models listed here. For example, while it is not always wanted or needed, the Epikgo Classic does not feature a bluetooth speaker, or different riding modes. While it says it is able to be used by people with a minimum weight of 44 lbs and a maximum weight of 240 lbs it does not feature different riding modes so it may not be user friendly enough, especially since Epikgo is known for its quick acceleration speeds.

Pros: long lasting battery, high safety standards, comfortable ride, attractive design

Cons: Expensive, not easy to learn on, no bluetooth or GPS

Gotrax SRX Pro All-Terrain Hoverboard

With many of the hoverboards on this list child friendly features and safety options were a nice consideration. With Gotrax it seems like these family-friendly features are the first consideration. While the Gotrax SRX Pro All-Terrain hoverboard may not have been especially designed for speed and power, it may be the perfect addition for an outdoorsy family looking for adventure.

The SRX Pro has a self-balancing mode to make it easier for beginners to ride. The SRX Pro has a built in gyroscope that levels the footpads whether there is a rider on it or not. This is a great feature to make it easier for new riders to get on and off the hoverboard.

Like many of the more expensive models on our list, the SRX Pro features 8.5 inch all terrain tires that allow the SRX pro to easily go from pavement to dirt and grass without an issue.

Features

While not boasting nearly as much power as many of the other hoverboards on our list. The SRX Pro hoverboard features a 500 watt motor system and can reach speeds of up to 7.5 miles per hour. While this cannot touch the top speeds of many of the other hoverboards on our list, this still provide a thrilling ride.

Unlike models like the Epikgo Classic, the Gotrax models are designed with kids in mind. With bright and bold colors like candy apple red that kids will love to show off to their friends. The SRX Pro also features bluetooth speakers and LED lights to keep kids focused on the road.

Along with less power also comes a friendlier price tag. The Gotrax SRX Pro is available at less than $200 on their website currently. Compared to some of the more expensive models consumers could choose to buy two SRX Pro hoverboards. This can make a big difference when it comes to purchasing hoverboards for the whole family.

Pros: Self-balancing mode, all-terrain tires, inexpensive

Cons: Less power, can only hold up to 220 lbs, slower speeds

Airwalk Hoverboard Troubleshooting

Airwalk Hoverboard Troubleshooting

Check out these common issues and concerns to troubleshoot your Airwalk Hoverboard

Anyone who viewed the 1989 classic Back to the Future Part II was instantly mesmerized by the possibility of Marty McFly’s ‘hoverboard’ which he used to escape from the ‘bad guys’ in the 2015 of the future.

While hoverboards don’t yet have the technology to actually hover, (they are actually self-balancing scooters) these personal transportation devices have been picking up popularity among kids and adults alike.

Like all modern technology, there are also hiccups along the way. One of the best ways to minimize these little annoyances is to familiarize yourself with the owner’s manual before actually riding your hoverboard so you are fully aware of how to operate it safely as well as troubleshoot any potential problems.

When it comes to the Airwalk Hoverboard, troubleshooting information is a little tougher to find. We were able to find an online user manual, and are also relying on standard best practices for troubleshooting hoverboards to help assist.

Why Does my Airwalk hoverboard keep beeping?

There are many reasons why your Airwalk hoverboard may be beeping. You may have reached your maximum speed, be facing an incline beyond your hoverboard’s ability (15 degrees), your hoverboard is tilted forward or backward beyond 15 degrees or your hoverboard has a low battery.

To remedy this, try moving your hoverboard to a smooth, flat surface and check your Airwalk hoverboard’s battery level.

How do I recalibrate my Airwalk Hoverboard?

In some cases, you may need to recalibrate your Airwalk hoverboard in order to stop the beeping and flashing lights.

The method to recalibrate your Airwalk hoverboard is slightly different than the standard procedure:

  1. Place your hoverboard on a completely flat surface with both sides aligned.
  2. Press the power button until you hear a single beep and release.
  3. The front LED lights will flash blue continuously.
  4. After 5 seconds of continuous blue flashing, hold the power button to turn your hoverboard off.
  5. Turn the hoverboard back on and it should be ready to ride.

What does it mean when your Airwalk Hoverboard will not turn on?

If your Airwalk hoverboard will not turn on, there are several possible reasons and it is beneficial to do some troubleshooting to see if it is an easy fix.

The first possibility is the easiest to address-your hoverboard needs to be charged. Of course most people will try this option first. However, the issue may lie in your hoverboard’s inability to charge. The issue could lie within the charger, portal or battery itself. The included charging cord will change from green to red to indicate the hoverboard has begun to charge. If the cord fails to change colors it may indicate an issue within the charging cord or portal.

The charging cord changes from red to green to indicate the hoverboard is fully charged. Standard charging time varies between 2 and 4 hours. If the cord fails to turn green after 4 hours, the issue may lie within the battery of the hoverboard.

Here is a handy video that gives a step by step guide on how to change the battery on your hoverboard.

If your charging cord indicates that your battery is fully charged, the issue could lie in your motherboard. Once you have determined this may be the issue, we suggest taking your hoverboard to a certified repair shop rather than trying to fix the issue yourself. With the Airwalk Hoverboard a solid red LED light indicates when there is an issue with the system.

Why is my Airwalk Hoverboard not balancing?

Sometimes the system is not balancing because you have hit something or possibly bumped your unit and upset the calibration. Try turning your hoverboard off completely and back on to reset. If this does not work, recalibrate your hoverboard by following the instructions found above.

Your Jetson hoverboard will also beep to let you know your battery is low or your sensor is unstable. To stop the beeping, you will need to charge your battery or recalibrate your hoverboard.

What Does it mean when my Jetson Hoverboard won’t turn on?

If your hoverboard will not turn on it is usually one of three reasons: an issue with the battery, an issue with the charger or an issue with the motherboard. Of course, the simplest explanation is that your hoverboard needs to be charged. However, if your hoverboard has been charging and you are still unable to turn the hoverboard on, it wards further investigation.

Take a closer look at the charger. Does the unit light up like it is about to charge and then turn off? The issue could be with your charger. If you suspect the battery may be the issue you are able to check if the battery is charged by using a voltmeter. A fully charged battery will have between 36 and 42 volts.

If the battery is fully charged, then the issue is likely with the motherboard or wiring. As with both cases, it is important to leave this type of repair up to the professionals. You can contact help@ridejetson.com for further assistance.

Why is my Jetson hoverboard not balancing?

When your Jetson hoverboard is not balancing, we recommended turning your unit completely off (not putting it in sleep mode) and restarting it. If your hoverboard is still not balancing properly, you can recalibrate it up to three times consecutively by pressing the power button until the red light starts flashing (about three seconds). But if the issue persists, you can contact help@ridejetson.com for further assistance.

The 6 Best Hoverboard Seats of 2020

Turn your hoverboard into a go-kart with our top hoverboard seat conversion kits!

Just when you thought your hoverboard couldn’t get any cooler, they come up with conversion kits to turn them into go-karts!

For many just owning a hoverboard is a childhood dream come true. Any millennial who viewed the 1989 hit Back to the Future Part II remembers the amazing scene where Marty McFly travelled to the futuristic 2015 and rode on a hovering skateboard. This fast piece of fictitious technology was the top of every child’s wish list for decades and happily a version of that much sought after technology is available today.

While we are not yet able to hover above the ground, hoverboards are actually self-balancing scooters made for older children and adults as a form of green transportation. The hoverboards work by having the user stand on two footboards and use sensors to allow the rider’s body movements to steer.

While many love the original way in which to use their hoverboards, others want options. This is where the conversion kits come in. For some the thought of turning their hoverboard into a go-kart, often referred to as a hoverkart go kart,  is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Younger riders may also benefit from the stability and safety offered by the familiar seating position versus a stand-up ride. No matter the reason you want to convert your hoverboard, we have made our guide to help you choose the best hoverboard seat.

Which Seat is Best for You?

While the thought of a personal go-kart at your disposal is tempting, it is important to know that conversion kits do not include a hoverboard. If you have not yet purchased your hoverboard, you should first peruse our articles on finding the best hoverboard for you and your needs. Whether you are looking for speed, off roading, or the best hoverboard for kids; we have you covered.

Not all Conversion Kits are Compatible

If you already own a hoverboard it is important to know that not all hoverboards are compatible with all conversion kits. This is especially true if your model of hoverboard has a carrying handle built into the middle of your board. This feature is handy for sure, but can also make it extremely difficult to find a conversion kit.

Economy, Durability and Safety

There is also often a choice between safety, durability and price. Just like hoverboards there are some noticeable differences when it comes to a quality board from a well-respected brand and an economy board from a discount seller. Many families seek out these hoverboard seats to turn their hoverboards into ‘hoverkarts’ because they are a safer riding option. This is not always true if the hoverseat purchase is not durable and safe.

What Features do you need?

It is also important to consider the features of your hoverboard and make sure they will work with your go-kart attachment. For example, if you have purchased a hoverboard that is built for speed make sure your go-kart attachment is capable of the same. Many hoverboards have specific features that make them capable of off-roading, but this is much less common in the conversion kits.

Safety Considerations

Most riders will report that a hoverkart was easier to maneuver and was less likely to cause them to fall off. However, just because a hoverkart may provide more stability does not mean it does not have its own safety considerations.

One thing to look for is a stable front wheel. Many models have reviews reporting their front wheels vibrating or even turning on their side which can cause an accident.

Another consideration is installation time. Many of the models that boast a quick set-up also have users reporting issues with durability. It may be worth it to spend more time with the set-up if the end product has more stability and lasting power.

Hiboy HC-02 Hoverboard Kart Seat Attachment

Hiboy HC-02
No products found.

The Good:

The Hiboy HC-02 Hoverboard Kart Seat Attachment has made our list because the company has a solid reputation for making quality products and providing great customer service. It seems this model has taken some of the weaker points of the Hiboy HC-02 and improved on them. The hoverboard is mounted on the back and steering is performed through two handlebars located on each side of the rider.

The Hiboy HC-02 kart attachment is able to work with many different types of hoverboards as it can be added to any 6.5”, 8” or 10” hoverboard. Like many other hoverboard seats, this kit will not work with hoverboards that have a handle built in to the middle of the board.

The Hiboy HC-02 is made of cast iron and comes almost completely assembled. Installation takes less than 15 minutes. Despite its durable frame, this is also a lightweight option at just about 18 lbs and can be used by riders up to 270 lbs.

The bigger frame and rear suspension makes this a comfortable ride. The large seat and adjustable leg length from 27.5 to 35.3 means that this hoverboard seat can be adjusted to almost any rider.

The Bad:

The front seat may sit too high for some users.

Many reviewers state that the front wheel will shake when in use. Some reviewers also said there were missing parts or poor manufacturing. However, Hiboy is known for excellent customer service and many complaints were promptly resolved.

Pilan Cool Mini Kart

Buy on Amazon

The Pillan Cool Mini Kart hoverboard seat features a quick installation, durable frame and comfortable ride.

The Good

This hoverboard conversion kit can be set up in about two minutes so excited riders can get on the road quickly. It can also hold riders up to 250 lbs and can be incrementally adjusted for height so it is a great option for the whole family.

Like many hoverboard seats the Pilan Cool Mini Kart mounts the hoverboard at the rear and features two handle bars for steering as well as a foot rest for comfort. The seat is made of plastic and this mini kart attachment kit is fairly economical.

This mini kart hoverboard accessory can fit many different models of hoverboard ranging from 6.5″ to 10″ (16.5 cm to 25.4 cm). It does not specify if it will fit hoverboards that feature the built-in handle in the middle of the board.

The Bad

Some reviewers felt the instructions were incomplete or missing a step. Many reviewers also reported issues with the bolts that attach the seat. Some were missing, defective or felt they were too long.

HoverSeat Deluxe

Buy on Amazon

While many want to get a conversion kit to turn their hoverboard into a go-kart, the Hoverseat Deluxe answers the call for those who want to turn their hoverboard into a small seated scooter.

The Good

Many of the kits on this list make hoverboards easier to ride for children or beginners, the HoverSeat Deluxe attachment offers even more stability. It turns your hoverboard from a fun ride on the street to a small personal transportation vehicle.

This conversion kit features an aluminum frame with two unique features. It has two large rear tires and a traditional bicycle -style handlebar. This is because unlike many other models featured on this list, the hoverboard is not mounted at the rear of the frame, and is instead mounted at the front.

With this kit you are in a much more elevated position, almost like sitting in a chair on top of your hoverboard. You can choose to steer with either your feet or the familiar handlebar set up.

The bad:

The plastic seat does not seem comfortable for long treks. However, it appears you are able to swap out the seat for a different one if you wish.

The weight capacity is limited to 220 lbs. So while this seems like a possibly cheaper transportation for older adults it does not serve larger adults.

This conversion kit also has a limited compatibility. In order for this attachment to work, it requires a hoverboard that has a 9″ (22.86 cm) round middle section. Anything too small or too large will not fit in the metal clamp.

HoovyKart Conversion Kit

Buy on Amazon

The Good

The HoovyKart Conversion kit is a great option for turning your hoverboard into a hoverkart. The HoovyKart Conversion Kit can fit all sized hoverboards and comes almost fully assembled. All the user needs to do is attach the seat to the frame with a few bolts and then attach the frame to the hoverboard with the included velcro straps.

Users report this kit makes their hoverboard much easier to use, especially for children. The included plastic bucket seat has raised sides to help keep the rider in place. The hoverboard is mounted in the back with two padded handlebars to control speed. The Hoovykart weight limit is 270 lbs and the kart adjustable to fit most adults.

The Bad

While the seat design may be good for keeping smaller riders in place, it limits the size of riders who can ride comfortably. This kit may be best for older kids and smaller teens only.

Many reviews say the velcro straps are not durable and break easily.

Segway NineBot Electric Go-Kart Drift Kit

Buy on Amazon

If you are seeking the ultimate go-kart experience and budget is not an issue, the Segway NineBot electric go-kart drift kit is a clear winner.

The Good

While many of the other kits on this list feel similar to a go-kart experience, this go-kart drift kit turns your Segway NineBot into a full fledged go-kart similar to those you enjoy at the go-kart track. While this kit is amazing, it is only compatible with the Segway NineBot S. This hoverboard does not follow the traditional design as it has a knee balance support board and speciality construction.

The Good: This conversion kit is the most similar to an actual go kart. It has a real steering wheel and full car body rather than a simple frame. The Segway app has lots of built in features including three speed levels, so it can adjust to different driving abilities. It also has a handbrake (and brake pedal)  to allow the rider to actually ‘drift’ which is a fun feature for kids and adults alike.

This kit adjustable for riders up to 6” 5 inches tall.

The Bad:

This conversion kit is expensive. At about $800, it certainly is much more expensive than other models on our list. However, instead of a compatible frame and seat, this conversion kit is much more of a complete car.

This conversion kit also can handle a maximum weight limit of 220 lbs. So bigger kids can’t enjoy this ride. Unlike many of the other conversion kits, this go-kart drift kit is not easily portable and is large to store.

Many reviewers mentioned the kit was difficult and complicated to assemble and required firmware updates before the Segway and the go-kart were compatible.

Hover 1 Beast Buggy

Buy on Amazon

The Good

While many hoverboard seat attachments are not made for off-roading, this Hover 1 Beast Buggy certainly is. If you have a hoverboard that is designed for off-terrain use, this is a great option to turn that hoverboard into an off-road go-kart.

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/0eIIqnw8F2c” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>

This hoverkart kit comes with suspension and is designed to fit any 10 inch hoverboard.

The Bad

This hoverboard seat is potentially dangerous due to a often reported front wheel issue. At higher speeds many experienced the front wheel begin to flutter. In some cases, the front wheel went sideways and even caused a rider to be ejected from their seat.

Many reviews reported that this is easily remedied by replacing the front wheel. Once that defect has been remedied, this is a good option for off-road go-karting. Without this fix this unit would only be recommended at slower speeds.

Buy the Right Conversion Kit for you

No matter what conversion kit you end up purchasing, these fun add-ons are a great way to add a new element to enjoying your hoverboard and making this new technology easier than ever to master. Did we get the top six hoverkart kits right? Let us know in the comments!

The Top 7 Fastest Hoverboards in the World

7 Fastest Hoverboards

Do you have a need for speed? Check out the fastest hoverboards in the world to find your perfect match.

If you are like most adults of a certain age, you have been wishing for a hoverboard ever since Marty McFly jumped on his futuristic model skateboard in the 1989 classic Back to the Future Part II. Not only was this futuristic board featuring amazing technology that allowed McFly to ‘hover’ above ground, it was also fast. Which was especially important for him to be able to escape for the inevitable ‘bad guys’.

While McFly was able to jump into this technology in the fictitious 2015, today’s hoverboards have been available to the public since 2013. While there have been some bumps in the road concerning design and safety, today’s boards are safer, more durable and faster than ever.

When it comes to hoverboards, or self-balancing scooters as they are also known, users can feel the difference even in models that are even one mile per hour faster. So when it comes to finding the fastest model on the market today, even half a mile faster can make all the difference.

Of course, owning a fast hoverboard is a fun idea, but it isn’t the only important feature. Along with speed, we also considered safety ratings, weight capacity, and special features. In addition, it is important to consider the experience of the rider and the terrain the hoverboard will be taken on. Speed doesn’t matter much if your hoverboard can’t go offroading or if the speed makes it difficult to master how to control your new board.

With all these features in mind we would like to present our official fastest hoverboard reviews for 2020.

1.  RobotTurbo Hoverboard

robotturbo
TOP SpeedProsCons
15 MPHQuick battery charge, different modes for beginners and expertsHard to find, no longer being manufactured

The RobotTurbo Hoverboard comes in at the number one spot with a maximum speed of 15 mph. While the RobotTurbo isn’t new to the game, it is a great option if you are able to find it. Sadly, the company stopped producing these boards due to sales.

This classic hoverboard came out in 2017 but still holds up against today’s models. In fact, when it comes to many areas, including speed, it actually outperforms them.

While the RobotTurbo Hoverboard maxes out at 15 mph (most of the others on our list can’t go above 12 mph) it isn’t just a board for experts. The RobotTurbo actually has different modes for beginners and experts which makes it a great board to learn on that you won’t soon outgrow.

The unit is able to charge in less than an hour and still run for about 13 miles on a single charge. It performs well on smooth surfaces and with a maximum weight capacity of 240 lbs it is fun for the whole family.

2.  FutureSaw Pro

futuresaw pro
TOP SpeedProsCons
12.5 MPHFastest hoverboard on the market, can hold up to 300 lbsNot designed for off-roading or water resistant.

The FutureSaw Pro Edition hoverboard is our top pick for the fastest hoverboard available in 2020. While the FutureSaw Pro’s speed can’t match that of the RobotTurbo topping out at 12.5 MPH, it is still the fastest hoverboard currently on the market.

While many other hoverboards can reach 12 MPH, the FutureSaw Pro Edition just edged out the competition by .5 of a mile. Perhaps this is due to its dual 350 watt motor and strong Samsung or LG ion battery. The battery takes between 60 and 90 minutes to charge with an ability to travel about 12 miles on a full battery.

The FutureSaw Pro also offers an unique design which is a full 8 inches off the ground to keep you moving even over large debris.

With its 8 inch wheels this self-balancing scooter can handle up to a 30 degree incline and riders up to 300 lbs.

While the FutureSaw Pro falls short of the RobotTurbo Hoverboard on a few specs, it far exceeds on the only one that really counts-it is still available for sale.

3.  F1 Gyroor

F1 Gyroor
TOP SpeedProsCons
12 MPHRacing-style wheels, fast speedExpensive and bulky

The F1 Gyroor comes in at number three. Inspired by Formula 1 cars, you know this hoverboard is going to be fast. Maxing out at 12 MPH or 20 KM per hour, this hoverboard is fast, but it is also safe. The 8.5 inch racing wheels are made to be fast, but coupled with its steady design it is also easy to use.

While the F1 Gyroor is fast, it is also safe. This hoverboard is UL2272 certified. Your speed can be adjusted so that even a newer rider can enjoy this hoverboard and its self-balancing technology makes it easier to control.

The F1 Gyroor also has a smartphone app with a bunch of fun features. You can control the music on your bluetooth speaker, change your speed, change LED colored lights and manage your anti-theft alarm. Which is a handy feature since this smart board is bound to get lots of attention.

4.  Magic Hover G F1

Magic Hover G F1
TOP SpeedProsCons
12 MPHWater and dust resistant, durableNot suitable for a younger child

The Magic Hover G F1 is yet another hoverboard inspired by the popular Formula 1 racing sport. This model of self-balancing scooter can also reach speeds of 12 MPH or 20 KPH, which may not sound like a lot, but will certainly give its riders a thrill. While this type of power would certainly be thrilling for an adult or older teen, this hoverboard is not the right fit for a younger child.

Along with its top speeds, the Magic Hover also offers great durability. Its 8.5 inch wheels offer a smooth and steady ride. These tires coupled with this model’s dual 350 watt motors means you can climb up to a 30 degree incline without any problems.

This model also boasts IP54 water and dust resistance so if you are taking the road less traveled your hoverboard can handle the trip.

The Magic Hover G F1 may boast a higher price tag, but it also has the speed, power and durability to back it up. To top it all off it even has a handle for portability.

5.  TOMOLOO V2 Eagle Off Road Hoverboard

tomoloo v2 eagle
TOP SpeedProsCons
12 MPH8.5 inch wheels with deep treads designed for off-roading.Hard to find any cons for this one.

The TOMOLOO V2 Eagle Off Road Hoverboard packs a lot of power and speed for the price. Unlike many of the other hoverboards on this list, the V2 Eagle is designed for off road use with two large 8.5 inch wheels packed with deep treads to conquer any challenging terrain.

The V2 Eagle also boasts dual 350 watt electric motors to give it the power to conquer unique off road terrains while still battling it out for the top speed position. This newer model to the block is still neck in neck for the title of fastest hoverboard on the market. It is right up there with the big boys able to reach speeds of 12 MPH or 20 KPH.

Another huge accomplishment for the TOMOLOO V2 Eagle is its battery power. This hoverboard is able to travel up to 12 miles with a single charge. A feat usually reserved for its much more expensive competitors.

While bluetooth speakers may not be a necessary feature for all hoverboards, it seems to make more sense in the off-road models. After all, if you are on the road less traveled, it seems more reasonable to take along some tunes for company. The V2 Eagle features 4.1 stereo surround bluetooth speaker.

In addition to all the on-board features, the V2 Eagle also boasts an impressive smartphone app. Not only does the app allow its user to change the headlights on the hoverboard, it supports up to 16 million different headlight colors. It also offers GPS support, battery life and first-learner mode.

6.  Swagtron Swagboard Outlaw T6

Swagtron Swagboard Outlaw T6
TOP SpeedProsCons
12 MPHSentryShield multi-layered battery protection. 10 inch deep tread tires for off roading.2-3 hour charge time.

The Swagtron Swagboard Outlaw T6, also known simply as the Swagtron Swagboard is a great off roading option that combines speed and durability to take on any terrain. To help you stay safe along your travels, the Swagtron Swagboard comes equipped with non-slip footpads, built in LED lights to offer 6.5 feet of lighting in low light conditions, and SentryShield multi-layered battery protection. The technology is unique to Swagtron and uses aluminum casing to make its battery fire proof and damage proof.

Of course, the Swagtron Swagboard does not disappoint when it comes to power. Its dual 350 watt electric motors offer a maximum speed of up to 12 MPH or 20 KM per hour. It also boasts an impressive weight capacity at up to 380 lbs. The Swagtron Swagboard can travel up to 11 miles on a single charge.

Like many of the other hoverboards on this list, the Swagtron Swagboard also has a smartphone app that lets the user connect to the bluetooth speakers, monitor battery use and total mileage. Unlike many other models on this list, the Swagtron Swagboard also has a handle for easy carrying when you don’t feel like riding or the battery runs out.

7.  Halo Rover Off-Road Hoverboard

Halo Rover off-Road Hoverboard
TOP SpeedProsCons
12 MPHVoted the Best Hoverboard in 2019Hard to find a con for this model.

While a little further down on the list, the Halo Rover Off-Road Hoverboard is certainly not a model to be missed. Voted the Best Hoverboard in 2019, this self-balancing scooter combines safety and stability.

This versatile hoverboard has a minimum weight of 45 lbs and a maximum weight of 260 lbs. Combined with its three different riding modes, it truly is a hoverboard the whole family can use and enjoy.

Users of the Halo Rover can have their mind’s put at ease with the large list of safety features. Engineered by Halo Board, this United States manufacturer has a reputation for quality and safety. The Halo Rover has  an UL-2272 safety certification so they know it has been thoroughly tested against any possible overheating.

While the hoverboard has high safety ratings, it also packs a lot of power. Just like many almost all of the hoverboards on our list, the Halo Rover can reach maximum speeds of 12 MPH or 20 KM per hour.

One of the features that sets the Halo Rover apart is its attention to detail. This hoverboard has many built in sensors to adjust to many different terrains while keeping the ride as smooth as possible. The 8.8 inch wheels offer stability and balance while the aluminum frame maximizes your support.

While many hoverboards on the market are vulnerable to water, the Halo Rover boasts an IPX4 rating compliance, making it possible to operate in the rain or snow. It offers LED lights on both the front and the rear of the unit making it easy to operate in low light conditions. The available smartphone app offers GPS support as well as battery life so you are never caught off guard. The app allows you to monitor speed, distance and connect to the built-in bluetooth speaker.

CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD PRICES

FINDING THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARDS

WHERE TO GET THE LOWEST SELF-BALANCING SCOOTER PRICES

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A HOVERBOARD?

Depending on the features the price of a hoverboard varies from $250-$1000. There are self-balancing scooters priced lower, but those are typically for importers or purchasing in bulk.

Keep reading to find which hoverboard costs the least and is still a good buy.

Finding the lowest hoverboard prices isn’t easy. There are countless places that you need to visit if you want to find cheap hoverboards for sale.

Beyond the places you’ll visit, how will you know if it’s a safe hoverboard from Joe’s Generic Hoverboards Store?

The last thing you want to do is waste your hard earned money purchasing a discount hoverboard for sale on eBay, and then finding out that you had bought a counterfeit hoverboard or worse, an unsafe one.

Here’re some of the sites that I’ve found with low self-balancing scooter prices and deals. These sites typically aren’t of enough interest to write a full article on, but they would be perfect for a roundup page like this. I’ve also included some of the top brands that people are always asking.

Which brings me to say, welcome to the best place to find hoverboard deals. It can be a lot of work to find a good deal on a hoverboard. Now that you’ve visited this page, you’ll find it much easier.

If you’re looking for answers to your questions, visit the self-balancing scooter FAQ page.

A QUICK REMINDER

In case you didn’t know many of the links on this site are affiliate links. What that means is these are sites that have programs where people can enroll and refer customers. After being referred, a customer would purchase something, and if that customer came from my site, I would get a small percentage commission.
That commission doesn’t cost you anything, it is paid by the vendor.

I use that to help pay for the expenses of running this site, and one day, hopefully, I’ll be able to use some of that income to buy groceries. If you have any questions about this, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page and respond promptly.

Also, be sure to see the main scooter guides page for the latest in self-balancing scooter tutorials.

Alright, let’s get started I don’t have them sorted in any particular manner, though in general, I’ve tried to put the most popular items near the beginning.

MY RECOMMENDATION FOR BEST ALL-PURPOSE HOVERBOARD

My recommendation for the best hoverboard to buy is currently the Swagtron T1.

If you read the review, you’ll see why I recommend it now, but it comes down to a great blend of performance, safety, vendor reliability, and overall value.

It’s currently $399 from several different retailers, including the official site.

I recommend that you buy it from Amazon, though. You’ll get a low price, and since you’re buying it from Amazon, you can purchase a SquareTrade Extended Warranty. That will give you two years of warranty protection beyond the one year of the manufacturer’s warranty for under $40. It’s a great deal.

Other sites that are selling Swagtrons:

Amazon costs the same as those sites, and if you buy an extended warranty it will cost $60 less.

WHAT’S THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD YOU CAN BUY?

I am asked this question frequently. Everyone is searching for the best deals on hoverboards, but do you want the cheapest hoverboard?

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T BUY THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD

  • The most inexpensive hoverboards mostly likely aren’t UL-2272 certified, which means that they could accidentally start a fire.
  • A cheap hoverboard is most likely made from inferior materials so that it may break easier.
  • A low price hoverboard probably doesn’t have a manufacturer’s warranty.
  • A hoverboard that’s cheap will usually have parts that are cheap and underperforming. Instead of getting a fast hoverboard, you’ll get the slowest hoverboard.
  • Most businesses try to maximize profits. If a store is selling cheap hoverboards is there something wrong with it that they aren’t mentioning? Why are they trying to get rid of them?

Bonus:

The typical hoverboard cost is between $250 and $500. Smartboards costing more than this may have better features, but may also be a retailer trying to sell an inferior product for a high price.

HOVERBOARD PRICE RANGES

The days when hoverboard prices were in the $2000 range have almost entirely passed. There are a few places still trying to sell them at those ridiculous prices.

Below is a list of the general prices for hoverboards.  It isn’t anything official, but it’s what I have observed while I’ve run this site.

$

Hoverboards from China: typically from Alibaba or Aliexpress. This price is buying direct from the wholesalers and in quantity.

$

This is how much a self-balancing scooter costs at wholesale in single quantities.

$

Hoverboards under $300 are becoming increasingly more widespread. Several companies are selling clearance hoverboards at this price.

$

This is the most common hoverboard price. It includes hoverboards like the Powerboard, Hovertrax, and Swagtron.

$

You’ll have to pay this much if you want to buy a hoverboard with Bluetooth speakers, LED lights, remote controls.

It is a common starting price for 10″ hoverboards.

$

These are performance hoverboards that have better motors, batteries, chassis, or other componenets.

Top-end hoverboards are in this price range. It includes some of the more niche-styled self-balancing scooters like the new off-road hoverboards.

Looking for the lowest hoverboard price, but you still want one that’s not going to fall apart or explode?

Right now, the monorover r2 price is listed at 9, that’s more that’s 50% off the original price.

Performance wise, the Monorover is a decent hoverboard, with a top speed of 8 mph, a top range of about 12 mi, and a weight limit of 225lbs.

Also, the Monorover wasn’t one of the hoverboards that were recently recalled, so it’s a safe product. All-in-all, if you’re looking for a good deal on a hoverboard, this might be the one for you.

If you need to buy multiple hoverboards, the Monorover is the only brand that offers a discount for buying more than one hoverboard at a time.  This is great for parents that need to get several at the same time.

THE SWAGWAY X1 PRICE IS $299

The Swagway X1 is now on clearance. Swagtron set the Swagway X1 price at $299, while supplies last.

The Swagway X1 self-balancing scooter is the pre-certification design that has had its components updated to be UL-2272 compliant.

All X1’s from Swagway no include SentryShield to make them a safer hoverboard.

The $299 price for a Swagway X1 is excellent, and I wouldn’t be surprised if these sell out very soon. Read my Swagway X1 review to see what I thought of the X1.

WHERE CAN I BUY A POWERBOARD BY HOVERBOARD?

The Powerboard is a decent self-balancing scooter; that is hugely popular. Chances are, if you were to check your local mall, you would find a Powerboard kiosk.

Currently, the Powerboard is the lowest priced hoverboard available on Amazon. Different colors have different prices, with the red one being the cheapest.

THE SKQUE LINE OF HOVEBOARDS

One of the newest sellers that I’ve added to the site is the Skque self-balancing electric scooters. For a virtually unknown company before hoverboards, now the company is starting to become a known name.

They have multiple models of hoverboard in the 6.5″, 8″ and 10″ tire sizes. Also, they sell the most of the models of hoverboard with Bluetooth speakers.

Skque sells several different types of hoverboards, ranging in price from $440-$800.

They have consistently been one of the best places to find a Bluetooth hoverboard.

If you want a hoverboard that’s not the basic black, white, blue, or red, then you want to check out Skque.

They’ve got a decent product, but their site needs some loving, and nobody believes that hoverboards cost $2000 anymore.

SWAGTRON T1 AND T3 HOVERBOARDS

Swagtron continues to be one of the few hoverboards on Amazon. In addition to the Powerboard and Hovertrax 2.0, you can find the Swagtron T1 and Swagtron T3.

The T1 and T3 are the newest Swagway hoverboards and are the replacement of the X1.

See my Swagtron T1 review for a complete breakdown of the T1.

Essential, the Swagtron T1, is a good hoverboard that blends safety, performance, and price into a fun package.

That’s why I recommend the Swagtron for most people that are looking to buy a hoverboard.

Be sure to buy it from Amazon.

It costs $60 less to buy a T1 with the extended warranty from Amazon than it does to buy one from Swagtron.com.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SWAGTRON T3 AND T1?

The T3 includes Bluetooth speakers and the Swagtron app. The app lets you monitor battery life and track your route that you’ve traveled.

STREETSAW HOVERBOARDS ARE CUTTING DOWN THE COMPETITION

As I learn more and more about the StreetSaw hoverboards, I become more impressed by them.

It takes a minute to figure out the differences between the different types of hoverboards that are on the site.

They seem to be out of 8″ hoverboards currently, but you they still have plenty of the 6.5″ and 10″ hoverboards.

StreetSaw is one of the few products that have a hoverboard weight limit of 265 lbs or more.

And StreetSaw is the only place selling hoverboards with dual High-definition Bluetooth speakers

And if you need an off-road hoverboard, StreetSaw has announced that they are taking pre-orders for the RockSaw, the first off-road hoverboard.

As you can see, StreetSaw has a lot going on, and you should definitely check them out.

THE NEVER-ENDING QUEST FOR A HOVERBOARD VENDOR CONTINUES

Since hoverboards have become a little scarce recently, I’ve been looking for new merchants and places to buy a hoverboard. I’ve just added a new dealer and am going to have some of their coupons and deals up soon for everyone. For now, here’s a link.  They seem to have decent looking hoverboards and very reasonable pricing.

A new hoverboard site selling self-balancing scooters at a good price

Selfwheels.com is a new vendor selling hoverboards at good prices

Selfwheels.com is still too new to know how reliable of a site it is to purchase a self-balancing scooter from.  I will keep an eye on them, but so far, I haven’t heard anything bad about them.  As always, let the buyer beware.

That’s all the deals I have for today, bookmark this page so that you can always find the best deals on hoverboards. I will keep this updated as sales start and stop or other changes in availability.
