Jetson Hoverboards are a popular choice for a family-friendly hoverboard. With a maximum weight of 220 lbs and speeds up to 13 MPH, Jetson Hoverboards offer something for everyone.
While charging time with the Jetson is a little on the longer side between 1 and 2 hours, once the battery is charged this hoverboard has staying power! One charge should let you roam about 13 miles. And the 8.5 inch wheels are easily able to withstand potholes and small debris. In addition, this hoverboard is water resistant and comes with a built-in bluetooth speaker and available smartphone app! There is lots to love in this family-friendly hoverboard.
Yet, just like any model of hoverboard, things can go wrong. Below is our guide to troubleshooting some of the common issues associated with Jetson Hoverboards.
Normally, your Jetson hoverboard will only beep to indicate a few messages to its user. Your Jetson hoverboard will beep to let you know you have reached your maximum speed. This beep is letting you know to slow down for your own safety. You can adjust your maximum speed on the Jeson smartphone app.
Your Jetson hoverboard will also beep to let you know your battery is low or your sensor is unstable. To stop the beeping, you will need to charge your battery or recalibrate your hoverboard.
How Do I Recalibrate my Jetson hoverboard?
To recalibrate your Jetson hoverboard simply place your hoverboard on a flat surface where both sides are level. Next hold and press the power button for about three seconds. You will notice the lights begin to flash. You can use this method to recalibrate your Jetson hoverboard three times consecutively. If the problem persists, you should contact help@ridejetson.com for further assistance.
What Does it mean when my Jetson Hoverboard won’t turn on?
If your hoverboard will not turn on it is usually one of three reasons: an issue with the battery, an issue with the charger or an issue with the motherboard. Of course, the simplest explanation is that your hoverboard needs to be charged. However, if your hoverboard has been charging and you are still unable to turn the hoverboard on, it wards further investigation.
Take a closer look at the charger. Does the unit light up like it is about to charge and then turn off? The issue could be with your charger. If you suspect the battery may be the issue you are able to check if the battery is charged by using a voltmeter. A fully charged battery will have between 36 and 42 volts.
If the battery is fully charged, then the issue is likely with the motherboard or wiring. As with both cases, it is important to leave this type of repair up to the professionals. You can contact help@ridejetson.com for further assistance.
Why is my Jetson hoverboard not balancing?
When your Jetson hoverboard is not balancing, we recommended turning your unit completely off (not putting it in sleep mode) and restarting it. If your hoverboard is still not balancing properly, you can recalibrate it up to three times consecutively by pressing the power button until the red light starts flashing (about three seconds). But if the issue persists, you can contact help@ridejetson.com for further assistance.
Turn your hoverboard into a go-kart with our top hoverboard seat conversion kits!
Just when you thought your hoverboard couldn’t get any cooler, they come up with conversion kits to turn them into go-karts!
For many just owning a hoverboard is a childhood dream come true. Any millennial who viewed the 1989 hit Back to the Future Part II remembers the amazing scene where Marty McFly travelled to the futuristic 2015 and rode on a hovering skateboard. This fast piece of fictitious technology was the top of every child’s wish list for decades and happily a version of that much sought after technology is available today.
While we are not yet able to hover above the ground, hoverboards are actually self-balancing scooters made for older children and adults as a form of green transportation. The hoverboards work by having the user stand on two footboards and use sensors to allow the rider’s body movements to steer.
While many love the original way in which to use their hoverboards, others want options. This is where the conversion kits come in. For some the thought of turning their hoverboard into a go-kart, often referred to as a hoverkart go kart, is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Younger riders may also benefit from the stability and safety offered by the familiar seating position versus a stand-up ride. No matter the reason you want to convert your hoverboard, we have made our guide to help you choose the best hoverboard seat.
Which Seat is Best for You?
While the thought of a personal go-kart at your disposal is tempting, it is important to know that conversion kits do not include a hoverboard. If you have not yet purchased your hoverboard, you should first peruse our articles on finding the best hoverboard for you and your needs. Whether you are looking for speed, off roading, or the best hoverboard for kids; we have you covered.
Not all Conversion Kits are Compatible
If you already own a hoverboard it is important to know that not all hoverboards are compatible with all conversion kits. This is especially true if your model of hoverboard has a carrying handle built into the middle of your board. This feature is handy for sure, but can also make it extremely difficult to find a conversion kit.
Economy, Durability and Safety
There is also often a choice between safety, durability and price. Just like hoverboards there are some noticeable differences when it comes to a quality board from a well-respected brand and an economy board from a discount seller. Many families seek out these hoverboard seats to turn their hoverboards into ‘hoverkarts’ because they are a safer riding option. This is not always true if the hoverseat purchase is not durable and safe.
What Features do you need?
It is also important to consider the features of your hoverboard and make sure they will work with your go-kart attachment. For example, if you have purchased a hoverboard that is built for speed make sure your go-kart attachment is capable of the same. Many hoverboards have specific features that make them capable of off-roading, but this is much less common in the conversion kits.
Safety Considerations
Most riders will report that a hoverkart was easier to maneuver and was less likely to cause them to fall off. However, just because a hoverkart may provide more stability does not mean it does not have its own safety considerations.
One thing to look for is a stable front wheel. Many models have reviews reporting their front wheels vibrating or even turning on their side which can cause an accident.
Another consideration is installation time. Many of the models that boast a quick set-up also have users reporting issues with durability. It may be worth it to spend more time with the set-up if the end product has more stability and lasting power.

Quick installation, kid-friendly seat design, fits most hoverboards, and can hold an adult up to 270 lbs.
Has a real steering wheel and brake pedal as well as a hand-brake so riders can ‘drift’. This is actually similar to a go-kart design rather than a steel frame with a seat.
Designed for off-roading and can fit almost any 10 inch hoverboard. Has rear suspension for a comfortable ride.
The Bad
Difficult instructions, some users experienced issues with the bolts used to attach the seat.
Only fits a small amount of hoverboards, may be less of a ‘fun’ option. Maximum weight capacity is 220 lbs.
The design of the seat can limit the size of adults who can comfortably ride. Many users reported the velcro straps included are not durable.
Can only be used with a Segway NineBot S, expensive, heavy to move and big to store. Maximum weight capacity of 220 lbs.
This hoverkart kit has an often reported front wheel issue which can be a safety hazard.

The Hiboy HC-02 Hoverboard Kart Seat Attachment has made our list because the company has a solid reputation for making quality products and providing great customer service. It seems this model has taken some of the weaker points of the Hiboy HC-02 and improved on them. The hoverboard is mounted on the back and steering is performed through two handlebars located on each side of the rider.
The Hiboy HC-02 kart attachment is able to work with many different types of hoverboards as it can be added to any 6.5”, 8” or 10” hoverboard. Like many other hoverboard seats, this kit will not work with hoverboards that have a handle built in to the middle of the board.
The Hiboy HC-02 is made of cast iron and comes almost completely assembled. Installation takes less than 15 minutes. Despite its durable frame, this is also a lightweight option at just about 18 lbs and can be used by riders up to 270 lbs.
The bigger frame and rear suspension makes this a comfortable ride. The large seat and adjustable leg length from 27.5 to 35.3 means that this hoverboard seat can be adjusted to almost any rider.
The Bad:
The front seat may sit too high for some users.
Many reviewers state that the front wheel will shake when in use. Some reviewers also said there were missing parts or poor manufacturing. However, Hiboy is known for excellent customer service and many complaints were promptly resolved.
The Pillan Cool Mini Kart hoverboard seat features a quick installation, durable frame and comfortable ride.
The Good
This hoverboard conversion kit can be set up in about two minutes so excited riders can get on the road quickly. It can also hold riders up to 250 lbs and can be incrementally adjusted for height so it is a great option for the whole family.
Like many hoverboard seats the Pilan Cool Mini Kart mounts the hoverboard at the rear and features two handle bars for steering as well as a foot rest for comfort. The seat is made of plastic and this mini kart attachment kit is fairly economical.
This mini kart hoverboard accessory can fit many different models of hoverboard ranging from 6.5″ to 10″ (16.5 cm to 25.4 cm). It does not specify if it will fit hoverboards that feature the built-in handle in the middle of the board.
The Bad
Some reviewers felt the instructions were incomplete or missing a step. Many reviewers also reported issues with the bolts that attach the seat. Some were missing, defective or felt they were too long.
While many want to get a conversion kit to turn their hoverboard into a go-kart, the Hoverseat Deluxe answers the call for those who want to turn their hoverboard into a small seated scooter.
The Good
Many of the kits on this list make hoverboards easier to ride for children or beginners, the HoverSeat Deluxe attachment offers even more stability. It turns your hoverboard from a fun ride on the street to a small personal transportation vehicle.
This conversion kit features an aluminum frame with two unique features. It has two large rear tires and a traditional bicycle -style handlebar. This is because unlike many other models featured on this list, the hoverboard is not mounted at the rear of the frame, and is instead mounted at the front.
With this kit you are in a much more elevated position, almost like sitting in a chair on top of your hoverboard. You can choose to steer with either your feet or the familiar handlebar set up.
The bad:
The plastic seat does not seem comfortable for long treks. However, it appears you are able to swap out the seat for a different one if you wish.
The weight capacity is limited to 220 lbs. So while this seems like a possibly cheaper transportation for older adults it does not serve larger adults.
This conversion kit also has a limited compatibility. In order for this attachment to work, it requires a hoverboard that has a 9″ (22.86 cm) round middle section. Anything too small or too large will not fit in the metal clamp.
The HoovyKart Conversion kit is a great option for turning your hoverboard into a hoverkart. The HoovyKart Conversion Kit can fit all sized hoverboards and comes almost fully assembled. All the user needs to do is attach the seat to the frame with a few bolts and then attach the frame to the hoverboard with the included velcro straps.
Users report this kit makes their hoverboard much easier to use, especially for children. The included plastic bucket seat has raised sides to help keep the rider in place. The hoverboard is mounted in the back with two padded handlebars to control speed. The Hoovykart weight limit is 270 lbs and the kart adjustable to fit most adults.
The Bad
While the seat design may be good for keeping smaller riders in place, it limits the size of riders who can ride comfortably. This kit may be best for older kids and smaller teens only.
Many reviews say the velcro straps are not durable and break easily.
If you are seeking the ultimate go-kart experience and budget is not an issue, the Segway NineBot electric go-kart drift kit is a clear winner.
The Good
While many of the other kits on this list feel similar to a go-kart experience, this go-kart drift kit turns your Segway NineBot into a full fledged go-kart similar to those you enjoy at the go-kart track. While this kit is amazing, it is only compatible with the Segway NineBot S. This hoverboard does not follow the traditional design as it has a knee balance support board and speciality construction.
The Good: This conversion kit is the most similar to an actual go kart. It has a real steering wheel and full car body rather than a simple frame. The Segway app has lots of built in features including three speed levels, so it can adjust to different driving abilities. It also has a handbrake (and brake pedal) to allow the rider to actually ‘drift’ which is a fun feature for kids and adults alike.
This kit adjustable for riders up to 6” 5 inches tall.
The Bad:
This conversion kit is expensive. At about $800, it certainly is much more expensive than other models on our list. However, instead of a compatible frame and seat, this conversion kit is much more of a complete car.
This conversion kit also can handle a maximum weight limit of 220 lbs. So bigger kids can’t enjoy this ride. Unlike many of the other conversion kits, this go-kart drift kit is not easily portable and is large to store.
Many reviewers mentioned the kit was difficult and complicated to assemble and required firmware updates before the Segway and the go-kart were compatible.
While many hoverboard seat attachments are not made for off-roading, this Hover 1 Beast Buggy certainly is. If you have a hoverboard that is designed for off-terrain use, this is a great option to turn that hoverboard into an off-road go-kart.
This hoverkart kit comes with suspension and is designed to fit any 10 inch hoverboard.
The Bad
This hoverboard seat is potentially dangerous due to a often reported front wheel issue. At higher speeds many experienced the front wheel begin to flutter. In some cases, the front wheel went sideways and even caused a rider to be ejected from their seat.
Many reviews reported that this is easily remedied by replacing the front wheel. Once that defect has been remedied, this is a good option for off-road go-karting. Without this fix this unit would only be recommended at slower speeds.
