CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD PRICES

FINDING THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARDS

WHERE TO GET THE LOWEST SELF-BALANCING SCOOTER PRICES

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A HOVERBOARD?

Depending on the features the price of a hoverboard varies from $250-$1000. There are self-balancing scooters priced lower, but those are typically for importers or purchasing in bulk.

Keep reading to find which hoverboard costs the least and is still a good buy.

Finding the lowest hoverboard prices isn’t easy. There are countless places that you need to visit if you want to find cheap hoverboards for sale.

Beyond the places you’ll visit, how will you know if it’s a safe hoverboard from Joe’s Generic Hoverboards Store?

The last thing you want to do is waste your hard earned money purchasing a discount hoverboard for sale on eBay, and then finding out that you had bought a counterfeit hoverboard or worse, an unsafe one.

Here’re some of the sites that I’ve found with low self-balancing scooter prices and deals. These sites typically aren’t of enough interest to write a full article on, but they would be perfect for a roundup page like this. I’ve also included some of the top brands that people are always asking.

Which brings me to say, welcome to the best place to find hoverboard deals. It can be a lot of work to find a good deal on a hoverboard. Now that you’ve visited this page, you’ll find it much easier.

If you’re looking for answers to your questions, visit the self-balancing scooter FAQ page.

A QUICK REMINDER

In case you didn’t know many of the links on this site are affiliate links. What that means is these are sites that have programs where people can enroll and refer customers. After being referred, a customer would purchase something, and if that customer came from my site, I would get a small percentage commission.
That commission doesn’t cost you anything, it is paid by the vendor.

I use that to help pay for the expenses of running this site, and one day, hopefully, I’ll be able to use some of that income to buy groceries. If you have any questions about this, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page and respond promptly.

Also, be sure to see the main scooter guides page for the latest in self-balancing scooter tutorials.

Alright, let’s get started I don’t have them sorted in any particular manner, though in general, I’ve tried to put the most popular items near the beginning.

MY RECOMMENDATION FOR BEST ALL-PURPOSE HOVERBOARD

My recommendation for the best hoverboard to buy is currently the Swagtron T1.

If you read the review, you’ll see why I recommend it now, but it comes down to a great blend of performance, safety, vendor reliability, and overall value.

It’s currently $399 from several different retailers, including the official site.

I recommend that you buy it from Amazon, though. You’ll get a low price, and since you’re buying it from Amazon, you can purchase a SquareTrade Extended Warranty. That will give you two years of warranty protection beyond the one year of the manufacturer’s warranty for under $40. It’s a great deal.

Other sites that are selling Swagtrons:

Amazon costs the same as those sites, and if you buy an extended warranty it will cost $60 less.

WHAT’S THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD YOU CAN BUY?

I am asked this question frequently. Everyone is searching for the best deals on hoverboards, but do you want the cheapest hoverboard?

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T BUY THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARD

  • The most inexpensive hoverboards mostly likely aren’t UL-2272 certified, which means that they could accidentally start a fire.
  • A cheap hoverboard is most likely made from inferior materials so that it may break easier.
  • A low price hoverboard probably doesn’t have a manufacturer’s warranty.
  • A hoverboard that’s cheap will usually have parts that are cheap and underperforming. Instead of getting a fast hoverboard, you’ll get the slowest hoverboard.
  • Most businesses try to maximize profits. If a store is selling cheap hoverboards is there something wrong with it that they aren’t mentioning? Why are they trying to get rid of them?

Bonus:

The typical hoverboard cost is between $250 and $500. Smartboards costing more than this may have better features, but may also be a retailer trying to sell an inferior product for a high price.

HOVERBOARD PRICE RANGES

The days when hoverboard prices were in the $2000 range have almost entirely passed. There are a few places still trying to sell them at those ridiculous prices.

Below is a list of the general prices for hoverboards.  It isn’t anything official, but it’s what I have observed while I’ve run this site.

$

Hoverboards from China: typically from Alibaba or Aliexpress. This price is buying direct from the wholesalers and in quantity.

$

This is how much a self-balancing scooter costs at wholesale in single quantities.

$

Hoverboards under $300 are becoming increasingly more widespread. Several companies are selling clearance hoverboards at this price.

$

This is the most common hoverboard price. It includes hoverboards like the Powerboard, Hovertrax, and Swagtron.

$

You’ll have to pay this much if you want to buy a hoverboard with Bluetooth speakers, LED lights, remote controls.

It is a common starting price for 10″ hoverboards.

$

These are performance hoverboards that have better motors, batteries, chassis, or other componenets.

$+

Top-end hoverboards are in this price range. It includes some of the more niche-styled self-balancing scooters like the new off-road hoverboards.

ONE OF THE CHEAPEST HOVERBOARDS YOU CAN BUY

The Zippyboard Cruiser is one of the cheapest self-balancing scooters I’ve seen.

Features:

  • 6.5″ hoverboard wheels
  • 1-year manufacturer’s warranty
  • Free shipping and guaranteed to ship in 24 hrs.
  • 7 mph top speed
  • 265 lbs. rider weight limit
  • Multiple metallic colors

The current price is $259 for a 6.5″ hoverboard.

The price for a 10″ hoverboard is $330.

They also sell the emoji hoverboard if you’re interested.

THE MONOROVER R2 IS NOW 50% OFF

Looking for the lowest hoverboard price, but you still want one that’s not going to fall apart or explode?

Right now, the monorover r2 price is listed at 9, that’s more that’s 50% off the original price.

Performance wise, the Monorover is a decent hoverboard, with a top speed of 8 mph, a top range of about 12 mi, and a weight limit of 225lbs.

Also, the Monorover wasn’t one of the hoverboards that were recently recalled, so it’s a safe product. All-in-all, if you’re looking for a good deal on a hoverboard, this might be the one for you.

If you need to buy multiple hoverboards, the Monorover is the only brand that offers a discount for buying more than one hoverboard at a time.  This is great for parents that need to get several at the same time.

THE SWAGWAY X1 PRICE IS $299

The Swagway X1 is now on clearance. Swagtron set the Swagway X1 price at $299, while supplies last.

The Swagway X1 self-balancing scooter is the pre-certification design that has had its components updated to be UL-2272 compliant.

All X1’s from Swagway no include SentryShield to make them a safer hoverboard.

The $299 price for a Swagway X1 is excellent, and I wouldn’t be surprised if these sell out very soon. Read my Swagway X1 review to see what I thought of the X1.

WHERE CAN I BUY A POWERBOARD BY HOVERBOARD?

The Powerboard is a decent self-balancing scooter; that is hugely popular. Chances are, if you were to check your local mall, you would find a Powerboard kiosk.

Currently, the Powerboard is the lowest priced hoverboard available on Amazon. Different colors have different prices, with the red one being the cheapest.

THE SKQUE LINE OF HOVEBOARDS

One of the newest sellers that I’ve added to the site is the Skque self-balancing electric scooters. For a virtually unknown company before hoverboards, now the company is starting to become a known name.

They have multiple models of hoverboard in the 6.5″, 8″ and 10″ tire sizes. Also, they sell the most of the models of hoverboard with Bluetooth speakers.

Skque sells several different types of hoverboards, ranging in price from $440-$800.

They have consistently been one of the best places to find a Bluetooth hoverboard.

If you want a hoverboard that’s not the basic black, white, blue, or red, then you want to check out Skque.

They’ve got a decent product, but their site needs some loving, and nobody believes that hoverboards cost $2000 anymore.

SWAGTRON T1 AND T3 HOVERBOARDS

Swagtron continues to be one of the few hoverboards on Amazon. In addition to the Powerboard and Hovertrax 2.0, you can find the Swagtron T1 and Swagtron T3.

The T1 and T3 are the newest Swagway hoverboards and are the replacement of the X1.

See my Swagtron T1 review for a complete breakdown of the T1.

Essential, the Swagtron T1, is a good hoverboard that blends safety, performance, and price into a fun package.

That’s why I recommend the Swagtron for most people that are looking to buy a hoverboard.

Be sure to buy it from Amazon.

It costs $60 less to buy a T1 with the extended warranty from Amazon than it does to buy one from Swagtron.com.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SWAGTRON T3 AND T1?

The T3 includes Bluetooth speakers and the Swagtron app. The app lets you monitor battery life and track your route that you’ve traveled.

STREETSAW HOVERBOARDS ARE CUTTING DOWN THE COMPETITION

As I learn more and more about the StreetSaw hoverboards, I become more impressed by them.

It takes a minute to figure out the differences between the different types of hoverboards that are on the site.

They seem to be out of 8″ hoverboards currently, but you they still have plenty of the 6.5″ and 10″ hoverboards.

StreetSaw is one of the few products that have a hoverboard weight limit of 265 lbs or more.

And StreetSaw is the only place selling hoverboards with dual High-definition Bluetooth speakers

And if you need an off-road hoverboard, StreetSaw has announced that they are taking pre-orders for the RockSaw, the first off-road hoverboard.

As you can see, StreetSaw has a lot going on, and you should definitely check them out.

THE NEVER-ENDING QUEST FOR A HOVERBOARD VENDOR CONTINUES

Since hoverboards have become a little scarce recently, I’ve been looking for new merchants and places to buy a hoverboard. I’ve just added a new dealer and am going to have some of their coupons and deals up soon for everyone. For now, here’s a link.  They seem to have decent looking hoverboards and very reasonable pricing.

A new hoverboard site selling self-balancing scooters at a good price

Selfwheels.com is a new vendor selling hoverboards at good prices

Selfwheels.com is still too new to know how reliable of a site it is to purchase a self-balancing scooter from.  I will keep an eye on them, but so far, I haven’t heard anything bad about them.  As always, let the buyer beware.

That’s all the deals I have for today, bookmark this page so that you can always find the best deals on hoverboards. I will keep this updated as sales start and stop or other changes in availability.

Cheapest Electric Scooters

Pop quiz! Quick, what takes you to work on time, doesn’t burn fuel, and costs $600 or less?

No, it’s not a bicycle or super-cheap smart car.

Stumped?

MEET THE ELECTRIC SCOOTER

Electric scooters are an often-overlooked mode of short-distance transport that have some real environmental and cost benefits over most vehicles. Looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint? Most electric scooters run on lithium-ion or lead-acid rechargeable batteries instead of gasoline or diesel, so they don’t have any carbon emissions! Want to zip to work in the morning and skip that rush hour traffic? Electric scooters can be used on road shoulders and sidewalks to bypass the morning crawl, and they travel at speeds up to 25mph! Looking for a way to cut down on your daily commute costs? Electric scooters are a cheap, low-maintenance alternative to vehicles that save you tons of money over almost any car! In this case, you really can have it all; save the planet, beat the morning traffic, and keep your commute costs low. Meet your new best friend, the Electric Scooter.

Scooters aren’t just for kids anymore. As the roads fill with increasing numbers of cars, and carbon emissions become more of a concern, electric scooters are rising as a viable alternative mode of short-distance transport. Not only are they environmentally friendly, electric scooters are vastly less expensive than electric vehicles, as well as being more compact, faster to recharge, and in most areas don’t require insurance and licensing. Plus, they are increasingly fashionable with hundreds of new designs ranging far beyond the simple electric kick scooter, so you don’t necessarily have to look like your seven-year-old self scooting around the neighborhood (although if you want to recapture that particular joy of childhood, go ahead! We won’t judge).

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

As you look at electric scooters, here are 10 things to keep in mind.

  1. Range. How far do you need to go? Most electric scooters can travel 10-20 miles before needing to recharge, though some can go further. Make sure that your scooter can take you where you need to go and back.
  2. Speed. Some electric mobility scooters are specifically designed to go slowly, for safety reasons. Other electric scooters and electric bikes can go 20 mph and up. Make sure you get a scooter that takes you where you want to go at the speed you want to get there.
  3. Torque. Torque is what allows you to climb hills on your electric scooter. If you will be using the scooter in a hilly area, make sure you have enough torque to conquer your elevation gain.
  4. Weight limit. Electric scooters have a range of weight limits, but watch out when looking at inexpensive scooters for adults; some are repurposed kid scooters with a weight limit of less than 120 pounds. Make sure your electric scooter is designed to support your weight, otherwise it can bend or break.
  5. Battery. How long does the battery take to charge? How long does the battery last? Is it a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, or will you need to purchase a new fuel-type battery regularly? Make sure you know what you’re looking for, so you don’t end up with hidden costs or a battery that takes too long to charge. Also, though they’re pretty rare, make sure that it isn’t a gas scooter, since that would defeat all your going-green intentions!
  6. Brakes. Stopping quickly is important with any moving vehicle. Electric scooters come with a variety of disk and drum breaks operated either with a hand or with a foot. Make sure that the scooter has good breaks that are easy to use. If you can, get a scooter with a brake on the rear wheel, since rear-wheel brakes are safer when stopping quickly.
  7. Parking. Some electric scooters have kickstands, while others can fold into the size of a briefcase. Make sure you have a plan to park your scooter, including a lock if necessary.
  8. Extra features. Do you need a basket to haul things? Do you like to sit or prefer to stand? Does the scooter have cruise control? Are you able to get parts and support if something breaks, or are extra parts and tools included at the time of purchase? There are hundreds of electric scooter styles and types; take the time to find the one that is best for you!
  9. Rules. Before purchasing your electric scooter, check the regulations regarding electric scooters in your area. Can you drive a scooter on the sidewalks near where you live and work? Do you need to have insurance on your scooter? Are the shoulders on your road wide enough for you to drive your scooter alongside the road. Know the restrictions and rules for electric scooters in the areas in which you will be driving.
  10. Helmet. Whatever electric scooter you buy, make sure you get a helmet! While electric scooters aren’t nearly as dangerous as motorcycles, your head is still exposed. Protect that noggin!

BUT WHICH SCOOTER IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Each electric scooter has its own benefits, depending on your needs. In general, the X-treme City Rider and Super Turbo 1000-Elite provide the best value for their price. If you’re looking for something cheaper though (or something for the kids) you might check out the Razor EcoSmart Metro or the Aosom 120W Kids. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something more heavy-duty, spend some time on the Super Turbo 1000-Elite, with double the wattage of most electric scooters and much higher torque.

Take a look below at how each of our recommendations performs compared to the others, and decide for yourself which traits are most important to you.

Looking for more options? Check out Business Insider’s guide to some fancier (and more expensive) options, or The Electric Rider’s honest evaluation of 10+ of the top electric scooters available.

Still not sure? Try a scooter rental in your area to check it out! Electric scooters and mopeds can be rented in most major cities, and it never hurts to try before you buy.

LET THE SEARCH BEGIN!

It’s time to give some serious thought to the role of electric scooters in our modern lives. In a world of finite resources, electric scooters offer a clear path to effectively cutting down on carbon emissions and lowering your impact on the environment. They are also more efficient than cars during rush hour in large cities, allowing you to bypass traffic and shave time off your morning commute, and are far more affordable than many other environmentally-conscious options. Electric scooters now come in a variety of styles with numerous features to suit your unique transportation needs, from high torque for hills to more powerful batteries for longer commutes. Make sure you know your individual needs and your areas laws and restrictions regarding electric scooters as you look for your own scooter, then head to the rental shops to take a few electric scooters for a spin. Check out the Razor EcoSmart Metro or UberScoot 500W for a low price and relatively good performance, the X-treme City Rider as an inexpensive option for slightly longer commutes, or the Super Turbo 1000-Elite to affordably climb up those hills with ease. For the kids, both the Aosom 120W Kids and the Razor E200S offer low-cost options for getting to school on time and in style. If you’re looking for some style and flair beyond an electric kick scooter, take a look at the slightly more expensive RSF650 Street Bike, with its sleek motorcycle-style body and high wattage. Whatever your short-commute needs, there’s an electric scooter that will get the job done. Get to work or school on time and in style and drastically reduce your carbon footprint, all for under $600. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Hoverboard Price – What To Pay For A Safety Certified Hoverboard

If you’re looking to get in on the self balancing scooter craze then you may be wondering how much one will cost. Hoverboard price varies depending on a lot of factors but I usually don’t recommend paying more than about $400-$600 (max) for a good quality scooter – it’s not necessary to pay more than that, but if you find one for less then it’s unlikely to have the proper safety certification.

Let’s look at the different scooters available and what they cost. First of all the expensive ones:

HOW MUCH IS A HOVERBOARD AT THE TOP END OF THE MARKET?

IO Hawk – $1299 | IO Hawk 2 – $1799 |Phunkeeduck – $1499

At the high end we’ve got products like the IO Hawk and the Phunkeeduck. Costing approximately $1200-$1800 for the IO Hawk or $1500 for the Phunkeeduck, these are obviously popular with celebrities, athletes, and with those who’ve got money to burn! They’re exactly the same as the cheaper models, look mostly the same, and have no extra features at all – you’re only paying for the name. Is it really that important to have the same model as Justin Bieber or Wiz Khalifa? That’s up to you.

Pros:

  • Big name brand so you’ll look ‘celebrity cool’
  • Individual battery cells in battery packs and chargers of the Phunkeeduck are UL certified. IO Hawk do NOT state whether theirs are UL certified or not (so I guess we have to assume they’re not). IO Hawk do say that they use a Samsung battery which being a good brand shouldn’t cause trouble, but personally I’d opt for a product with certified components over one that doesn’t say either way.
  • Quality components and workmanship.
  • I haven’t heard any stories of Phunkeeduck or IO Hawk going on fire – it would probably be well reported in the media if someone paid that much for a self balancing scooter only for it to go up in flames.

Cons:

  • None of the high end hoverboards are UL 2272 certified (this is the new Underwriter Laboratories certification for next generation self balancing scooters)
  • Hoverboard price is high for what you get – a product like the Swagtron is virtually the same (actually it’s better because it IS UL approved) but costs just $400.

CAN I GET A HOVERBOARD FOR SALE CHEAP?

Generic Chinese models – $180 – $300

Although you don’t need to go for high hoverboard prices like $1000+, I also don’t recommend buying one that’s too cheap. You CAN get a hoverboard on sale for as little as $200 if you shop in the Chinese marketplaces like Aliexpress or Alibaba. These are usually shipped straight from their manufacturing factory in China and most will ship worldwide (sometimes for a fee). Depending on what country you’re in you may, or may not have to pay import fees (you don’t in the US). In a country like the UK your scooter might even get held at customs. Over 15,000 scooters have been confiscated by UK officials at customs due to safety concerns.

If you’re buying from China, of course you save money, but what if something goes wrong with your scooter? It can be difficult to get a fix or replacement, especially if you have to ship it back to China at your own expense.

A hoverboard for sale at a cheap price is also unlikely to have the necessary safety certification. It costs money to get safety certified so if the price of hoverboard is ridiculously cheap, its probably not as safe as you’d like it to be. Remember all those stories about hoverboard fires and explosions? They’re all real, and unfortunately much damage has been caused. All because of cheaply made, inferior products with unsafe components. Cheap generic lithium ion batteries that overheated, badly made chargers and many more problems. Today we know that if we want a safe hoverboard that won’t go on fire, we need to buy one with proper UL certification. These usually cost in the region of $400-$500.

At the time of writing (June 2016) there are only two hoverboards that are completely safety certified, although there are some more that contain UL certified batteries and chargers so should be quite safe too (the batteries and chargers were what mainly caused the fires).

HOW MUCH FOR A HOVERBOARD THAT IS UL CERTIFIED?

safe hoverboard ul 2272 holographic sticker

Nobody wants to buy a product that is at risk of going on fire. It kind of takes the fun out of it pretty quickly if you have to babysit your scooter every time you need to charge it. Unfortunately around the world there have been approximately 60 fire-related incidences so far, and that number will probably grow if people continue to use uncertified boards that haven’t been properly safety tested. However, there is some good news – the industry is changing for the better.

Underwriter Laboratories or UL (the safety testing and certification company) have introduced a new fire safety testing certification specifically for hoverboards called UL 2272. This evaluates the safety of the electrical system and the battery and charger system combinations. If a device is UL 2272 approved and has the UL holographic label it is deemed safe to use and is not a fire hazard. At the time of writing (June 2016) there are only 2 products certified so far:

The Segway Minipro This is more expensive than the mid range self balancing scooters, and although it’s going to be popular, it might not be for everyone as it includes a knee bar.

The Swagtron T1 ( visit the link for up to date hoverboard price) This one is more like the traditional 2 wheel self balancing scooters that we’re used to.

Swagtron Pros

  • World’s 1st UL 2272 approved self balancing scooter
  • Available for sale on major online marketplaces – Amazon, eBay, Best Buy etc.
  • Very affordable price
  • swagtron t3 coming soon with even more bells and whistles – bluetooth, app etc.

Cons

  • Only available in the US

As I’m sure you already know, Amazon banned the sale of hoverboards until sellers could prove their product met certain safety standards and requirements. At the time ALL scooters were pulled from the marketplace. Now the above two products are available for sale after being UL 2272 approved. If you wanted a hoverboard but were holding back because you were worried about potential fire safety, now you can buy with confidence.

HOVERBOARD PRICE – THE BOTTOM LINE

Now that you’ve seen how much hoverboards cost, feel free to read some of our reviews to find out more. As I already mentioned, there are still just two with the proper certification, but I’m sure in the next few months more manufacturers will be producing better quality products that meet applicable safety guidelines.

A number of companies have already submitted their boards to UL to have them tested, so by Christmas 2016 there should be more to choose from than there is today. If you want a hoverboard right now though, the Swagtron T1 is your best bet.

Just remember the most expensive scooter isn’t necessarily the safest. A mid range, properly tested and certified scooter is a much better option than an expensive one that isn’t. Safety should be your main concern when choosing, rather than hoverboard price.

A MAJOR RECALL OF ALMOST 500,000 HOVERBOARDS WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY

Breaking news: a major hoverboard recall has been announced for several different brands of hoverboard. It’s unclear whether additional models will be added to this list.  Currently, here are the brands and models that have joined the recall:

  • Swagway X1
  • Powerboard by hoverboard
  • Razor Hovertrax
  • the Hype Roam
  • the Wheeli
  • the iMoto
  • X Rider
  • the Airwalk Self-balancing electric scooter
  • MobileTech
  • Hover Shark
  • NWS
  • Back to the Future
  • 2Wheelz
  • any hoverboards purchased from Overstock.com
  • any purchased at Boscov’s

As you can see there are several different brands included, but the investigation is still ongoing, so the CPSC says that it is possible more brands or models could be added in the future.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR AN OWNER OF ONE OF THESE MODELS?

The exact procedure varies from brand to brand, so you will have to contact either the brand or the store where you bought your hoverboard. Typically what will happen next is that you will be required to show proof of purchase, and then they will have you send in your hoverboard. Once the vendor has it, they may repair your hoverboard, replace it entirely (with a new or refurbished unit), or even issue a full refund (in some cases)

WHAT IF I HAVE ONE OF THE BRANDS LISTED, BUT I DON’T HAVE PROOF OF PURCHASE?

Ah, you didn’t see my Where to Buy A Hoverboard article, did you? It will depend on the brand of hoverboard; you will have to contact them to see. Check out where to find a cheap hoverboard for next time. Want to know how to make your hoverboard safe?

WHY ARE THEY RECALLING ALL THESE SELF-BALANCING SCOOTERS?

The biggest reason that they recalled these is that the risk of fires. There have been almost 100 incidents (according to the CPSC) related to hoverboards causing approximately $2 million in damages in 20 different states.

WHAT’S BEING DONE TO PREVENT FIRES IN THE FUTURE?

There is now a new safety standard in place UL-2272 that all self-balancing electric scooters are required to meet for them to be sold in the US. The standard includes more than 40 different tests, all designed to make the hoverboard safer for both riders, and their surroundings. You can learn more about the technology involved in making hoverboards safer in my is the Swagtron T1 safe review.

Is The SwagTron T3 Any Good? Here’s My Honest Review

The hoverboard industry is seeing a massive comeback in 2017 and this is thanks in no small part to the famous Swagway Swagtron Brand. It is no secret that Swagway has been an industry leader going by the amount of resources and extensive research that it has put in, producing excellent and safe hoverboards that are worth talking about. Their 2015 product the Swagway X1 was one of the top selling self balancing scooters in 2015, and in 2016 they’ve released two new products that have raised the bar even higher – the SwagTron T1 and the SwagTron T3.

Is There a Hoverboard Better Then Swagtron T3?

In 2017 new hoverboards have come to the market which makes the Swagtron T3 outdated. The TOP product in 2017 is the ScooterEra EXTREME. This bluetooth, offroad, robust and feature rich hoverboard puts all other hoverboards on the market in their dust.

Not only is the ScooterEra extreme a great learning hoverboard it can be used by advanced riders in the toughest of circumstances!

I’ve already reviewed the popular SwagTron T1, so this article is my review of its ‘big brother’ the SwagTron T3. This exciting new hoverboard has given us a lot to look forward to and as one of the safest on the market (as well as some added extras) may well be equally popular. Let’s start by taking a look at the top features and specifications of this product:

Unboxing The SwagTron T3

Here’s an awesome video of an unboxing of this model – this includes a lot of the same info you’ll read later on in our SwagTron T3 review but some people prefer to watch a video than read! Plus you’ll see some great close ups of the product and comparison between this and the Segway Minipro.

Features and specifications

  • Smart Battery Management System – The SwagTron T3 has been fitted with a smart battery management system commonly referred to as Smart BMS. This is able to monitor voltage closely so that you are kept within the right voltage and detects overcharging of the lithium ion battery. It protects the battery from over current and short circuiting which greatly increases the safety of the product.Still on battery safety, this self balancing scooter has been fitted with cutting edge technology referred to as SentryShield. This is a system that constitutes of an air-tight aluminum chamber that contains the lithium ion battery. It serves two major roles and first one being that it protects the battery from fire. Secondly, it shields the battery from any damage. This system has passed the highest quality certification, namely the original UL 10-ton battery crush test. Keep in mind that this product broke the record as the worlds first self balancing scooter to pass this critical test to get full UL approval.
  • Features that ensure an easier ride – The SwagTron T3 promises and delivers an easier, safer ride to users. To begin with, it comes with a dual independent motor that is upgraded. Gear stabilization in the control is also evident. These features are responsible for the sturdier, more stable feel and a smoother ride in general.
  • Incombustible outer shelling – It has a shell made from proprietary polycarbonate. This material ensures that any fire threat is contained within, ensuring safety of the user. In addition, the product is strong and durable despite being very light.
  • Enhanced foot-pads – The foot-pads have been upgraded to make them wider and non-slip. The overall grip is pretty impressive and you won’t feel like you’re going to slip off when tilting the board to move.
  • Open wheel and better traction tires  – The T3 enjoys better wheel rotation thanks to the open wheels and upgraded traction tires.
  • SwagTron App for Android and IOS smartphones – As already mentioned, there is a SwagTron app that activates the third riding mode for professinal hover-board riders. Apart from this function, the app has many other cool add-ons enabling you to check route history, battery status, set routes and much more. This app is unique to the T3 as few other hoverboards on the market (including the SwagTron T1) come with this addition.
  • BlueTooth quad speakers – These speakers ensure that you listen to your favorite music as you ride along. All you have to do is pair it with your mobile device.
  • LED lights – This hoverboard comes with color-coded LED lights that are highly stylish and even customizable. Their purpose is to highlight, illuminate or indicate movement.
  • Built in Carry Strap – Users do not have to worry about moving this product from place to place because it comes with a built-in carry strap (on the bottom of the product) ensuring convenience and hassle-free carrying.
swagtron t3 carrying strap

Other specifications include a variety of colors among them black, white, blue pink and gold. The maximum weight capacity of this product is 220 pounds. The maximum speed is 8 miles per hour and it comes with a lithium-ion battery. The product comes with a charger as well. The dimensions are a height of 4 inches, width of 23 inches and a depth of 7 inches. The weight of the product is 22 pounds, which is much lighter and easier to carry than previous models.

Three Riding Modes – Learner, Standard & Pro

The SwagTron T3 hoverboard is one of the simplest self balancing boards to use. If you are a newbie to hoverboarding, then you can start with the learner mode which is slower and more stable – this is also perfect for kids. In the learner mode, the foot pad sensitivity is lower making it ideal for first-timers.

If you have bit of experience then the second ‘standard’ mode is for you. This mode sees the speed, stabilization and sensitivity on the regular setting.

And for those who are experts in hoverboard riding, the pro mode eliminates all the speed limits for the fastest ride possible. However, for safety reasons, this mode is only available through the SwagTron smartphone App.

You can easily switch between modes at the press of a button.

Is this hoverboard safe?

ul 2272 certified hoverboard

The T3 is one of the safest hoverboards on the market today. To start with, it is UL 2272 certified. There are very few products that have currently got this standard certification which is new for 2016. In fact Swagtron was the first brand in the world to get certified!  UL stands for Underwriter Laboratories who are an authority on safety standards. All the test requirements by UL were passed including overcharge, short circuit, vibration, shock, crash, drop and mold tests – the list of tests goes on and on. To check if your hoverboard is UL certified look for the UL holographic sticker  on the bottom of your product.

The product also meets the environmental standards requirements and has certifications like the UN38.3, CE, FCC, Prop 65 and RohS. This is also a zero emissions product so safe for the environment!

Which Model – SwagTron T1 or T3?

There are many differences between the SwagTron T3 and T1:

  • To begin with, the SwagTron T3 comes in a more modern and futuristic design making it more stylish overall.
  • The T1 version only comes in 2 modes unlike the T3 which enjoys three modes –  learner, standard and pro.
  • The SwagTron T3 is enhanced with a 5 level charge indicator, something that the T1 doesn’t have. This shows you where your battery power is at.
  • The smartphone app is also only available for the T3 mode and not the T1.
  • In addition, the SwagTron T3 come with the added extra of high quality BlueTooth speakers.
  • The T3 also comes with a built in carrying strap which makes for easier transportation.
  • Lastly of course there’s a difference in price – the T3 costs $100 more than the T1.

Pros

There are many pros when it comes to the SwagTron T3 – here are just a few:

  • Stylish look with a durable shell which makes the product hard to scratch and long lasting.
  • The impressive smartphone app is a revolutionary new addition to hoverboarding
  • The riding modes offer different speed limits giving every person a choice of what suits them. The learning mode is particularly useful for younger users or the older generation until they find their balance.
  • UL 2272 certification means that your product is safe and you won’t have to worry about hoverboard fires.
  • The Bluetooth speakers are an excellent way to enjoy your music as your ride.

Cons

It’s pretty hard to find anything negative to say about this product but a few things are worth mentioning. This product is slightly expensive compared to other hoverboards on the market. However, considering the new features and safety measures, the price hike does make sense – UL testing doesn’t come cheap and this particular model does come with extras that NO other hoverboard currently has.

Anther potential downside is the ability for newbies to access the pro riding mode which can lead to accidents and injuries. In this regard, the company has put out a disclaimer meaning that every user will have to take responsibility for their actions. Just follow the instructions in the manual though and  you shouldn’t have any problems.

SwagTron Price – How much does it cost?

Although more expensive than the $300 generic brand Chinese hoverboards that were for sale previously (many of which went on fire or had battery explosions), this brand offers good value for money. Especially when there are still $500-$1500 hoverboards for sale that DON’T have UL 2272 certification. Here’s what you can expect to pay (approximately):

T1 price: $399.99

T3 price: $499.99

For the most part you’ll find that the price is the same no matter where you buy (you can find SwagTron for sale at a number of different online and offline retailers). However if you purchase from the official website we can give you a $10 discount code (works on either model). Also, depending on where you buy you may have to pay for shipping.

How to get a $10 SwagTron Discount:

swagtron t3 coupon code

To get $10 off just copy the following discount code: SWAG-1894A588KSJG

Then visit the official website where you can order the product of your choice and apply the discount when you get to the shopping cart.

This will give you $10 OFF and FREE shipping.

Warranty information

The SwagTron T3 comes with a standard 1 year warranty. This warranty will cover any flaws that result from workmanship and any defects in the materials used. If you use it wrongly and cause damage then you might see your warranty become null and void so make sure to read the user manual. For example, this hoverboard should not be used to jump off sidewalks. The warranty is relevant from the date of purchase.

My final verdict on the SwagTron T3

The SwagTron T3 has definitely been enhanced to provide better safety and quality than similar products  that went before. This hoverboard brand is still one of only a handful that has full UL 2272 certfication, and that alone is a big selling point.

This is a dynamic product that gives users options for colour, multiple riding modes for different experience levels, an app, and even bluetooth. If you don’t need all those bells and whistles and are looking for something a bit more standard (and $100 cheaper) then you may prefer the Swagtron T1, particularly if you’re buying for a child.

Swagway have definitely gone the extra mile to deliver a winning product and user reviews confirm this.

All in all, this board gives you superb value for your money and is worth checking out. The brand is a reputable one and they’ve made safety and functionality priority with this great self balancing scooter.

Where to buy SwagTron?

Here’s a list of some of the retailers that stock the SwagTron hoverboard (both the T1 and T3). The price is pretty much the same no matter where you buy, although some offer free shipping and some charge for shipping.

  • The official Swagway website
  • eBay (authorized seller is ‘claimthis’)
  • Best Buy
  • Modell’s Sporting Goods
  • BJ’s Wholesale

I’ll add to this list as the product becomes available for sale at more retail outlets.

I hope you’ve found my SwagTron T3 review useful!  To read user reviews I recommend visiting Amazon.com or if you have questions please post in the comments section (I’ll help if I can) or visit the official website to contact their customer service.

Monorover R2 Review

A cheaper rebrand of the more upmarket priced IO Hawk and Phunkeeduck, the Monorover R2 is currently one of the most popular of the branded products, mainly due to the fact that it’s more affordable. This is a great little scooter and is tough and durable enough to be used on a daily basis.

The Monorover has some excellent reviews and buyers are very happy with both the price and reliability of this 2 wheel scooter. Not only that but its one of the few products that comes with a decent warranty (as long as you buy from an authorised seller).

Two wheel self balancing scooters are probably one of the most popular gadgets in 2015, and they are only increasing in popularity as more and more they are being featured in the media. They are set to be a top seller for Christmas 2015 so if you haven’t got one yet, now’s the time to get saving! Our Monorover review is a just a quick overview of this product and what you get.

How Does It Work?

Just like a segway without the handle! Stand on the two footplates and tilt your weight forwards or backwards depending on which direction you want to go. You can even turn left or right by tilting one footplate forward and the other back (it does take a bit of practice) and can be used in small spaces, like indoors.

This does take a bit of practice and although some people boast of having mastered it in 2 minutes because they’ve got super balance, most people say it takes 30 minutes to a few hours to REALLY get the hang of it and be confident travelling over all terrains.

Because this is a self balancing scooter it is ‘auto’ balancing so it’s a stable ride and is safe and easy to control. Once you’ve got your balance and learn how to control it properly you’ll probably be as addicted to it as I am to mine!

Here’s what it’s like to ride:

User Comments On The Monorover R2

best money I’ve ever spent

all the capabilities of the IO Hawk for 60% less

it’s so much fun but it does take some practice in the beginning

this thing is heavy so make sure you’re not going to run out of charge and end up having to carry it

a definite attention grabber – I rode this down the park and everyone was asking me about it

goes over dirt, cobblestones, pavement and grass and can go over bumps up to an inch high

amazing and smooth, perfect for college students and getting around campus

Monorover vs IO Hawk vs Phunkeeduck

They’re all pretty much the same but vary alot in price (the other two cost $1500+ whereas you can get your R2 for around $400. The quality and build is the same – most people probably wouldn’t even notice the difference.

Product Overview

  • Weight: 10kg
  • 3 hours to charge battery – 17-20km travel range per charge
  • Maximum safe speed: 12kmph (after 18kmph an alert will be sounded)
  • Battery Capacity: 36V/4.4AH
  • Maximum load: 100-120kg
  • Warranty: 1 year and 30 day money back guarantee (only from authorised sellers)
  • Recommended age: 14+

Pros

  • Same as all the other brands of self balancing scooter – Monorover R2 is great fun to use, environmentally friendly, great to use as a personal mobility device for getting around faster etc.
  • Is safe, easy to learn, and is light and portable
  • This is more affordable than similiar models that cost $1000 more. You get the same product (just rebranded) but without the hefty price tag.
  • Comes with a 12 month warranty (if you buy from the official website) – most unbranded/generic models only have a 30 day warranty.
  • It’s safe to use – with a UL certified battery and charger this is one hoverboard that won’t go on fire! The company have submitted the R2 for UL testing to obtain UL 2272 certification so they should have this too in the near future.
  • Ships to UK and EU as well as the US.

Cons

  • Like all the other 2 wheel scooters the main con is not being able to mount a kerb. You can ride over uneven ground, cracks in the pavement etc. but when you reach a kerb you’ve got to stop and lift your scooter.
  • Scooters are easily scratched if you don’t look after them.
  • Can’t use in inclement weather. Splashes of water are okay, but they’re not completely waterproof so if it’s raining, keep your scooter at home.

Available Colors

It comes in  black or white.

Accessories

The scooter comes with everything you need (batteries included etc.) so you don’t really need to buy anything else. However there is a carry case available that alot of people buy as an easy way to carry their scooter around.

Where To Buy Monorover R2

These are flying off the virtual shelves at the moment and the best place to buy is on the official Monorover website.

It’s currently on sale there for just $239 (I paid $599 when I bought mine!) Monorover R2 is one of very few hoverboard brands that ship outside the US so if you’re in the EU or UK you can also order.

If you need to buy more than one (e.g. as gifts for your kids) you can get your hoverboards for even cheaper as there are discounts on the official website if you’re buying 2 or more!

Final Thoughts

The Monorover R2 ticks all the boxes. It’s affordable (compared to similar models that cost $1000 more), it’s reliable, and comes with a good warranty. This is the model I have myself, and I’ve never had a single problem with it. In fact it’s a model I would recommend without hesitation.

Okay it’s not as cheap as the unbranded products, but Monorover’s warranty makes this a safer investment. For me the IO Hawk and Phunkeeduck just aren’t worth the extra money as they’re almost exactly the same product. If you’ve got the money to spare and are in the market for a two wheel self balancing electric scooter you can’t go wrong with this one.

Packgout 2 Wheel Self Balancing Scooter Review

If you are looking for a self balancing scooter, the Packgout scooter isn’t the worst on the market. In fact, if you are looking for something that is reasonable value for money AND comes with mostly good reviews, this is definitely one to take into consideration. This Packgout self balancing scooter review will tell you all that you need to know about this particular model.

Overview

This is one of many two wheel balancing electric scooters that are available at the moment, designed to give you a fast, fun and hassle free ride. Apart from this, the scooter is also very easy to control and use. You can also use the scooter in a very narrow space due to the zero radius turning. Have you ever used any scooter that allows you to turn 360 degrees on the spot while you are standing? Well, this scooter really does that and more. Above all, it offers you an effortless riding experience with minimal learning time.

How does it work?

packgout scooter

The Packgout self balancing scooter is extremely user friendly and easy to use. To ride the scooter, all you need to do is simply step on top of the board and you are good to go. It works on two wheels and two motors along with the double balancing system that keeps you in place and prevents you from falling.  You accelerate the scooter simply by applying pressure with your foot and leaning slightly forwards or backwards. You use your feet for rotating, accelerating and for braking smoothly.

User Tips

Before you hit the road, it is important to practice riding for at least 15-30 minutes in a safe environment. You need to continue this until you can balance yourself comfortably. By moving the body and feet backwards, you will be able to move forward and vice versa. It is also important to maintain proper body posture. These scooters are perfectly safe to use, but only if you use them carefully and as advised by the manufacturers. It is possible to fall off and do yourself (and your scooter) some damage if you don’t treat it with respect!

Who can use this two wheel balancing scooter?

The biggest benefit of this scooter is the fact that it can be used by riders of all ages. In fact, anyone aged between 14 years to 45 years of age can easily enjoy riding this scooter without any worry – if you’re older or younger than that you can still use the scooter but you should seek a little help from a partner to make sure you don’t fall off (until you find your own balance). You simply need to check the power level and the tire before the ride, that’s all.

The features at a quick glance

  • Extremely safe to use. The double balancing feature helps to keep you balanced at all times.
  • Very easy to learn. The robust and anti slip body makes it suitable for both adults and children.
  • Comes with high power motors of about 500 watt.
  • Offers long endurance of about 17 km to 25 km range on one charge.
  • Includes a smart scooter carrying bag. Easy to carry the scooter whenever and wherever you want.
  • Takes two to three hours only for full charge

Pros

  • It is extremely fun to ride this scooter
  • Offers you a smooth ride and is easy to learn
  • Quite cheap and affordable compared to a smart pro scooter
  • Minimal learning curve – you’ll be a pro after riding this for about an hour
  • Suitable for all age groups
  • Comes in a number of different designs and colors
  • Alerts you when 15 or 20 minutes left of the charge – this is a very useful feature that not all scooters have
  • Price is very affordable

Cons

  • The initial two minutes can be quite dangerous if you are riding it for the first time – you need to be very careful!
  • Durable but prone to wear and tear like scratches (as are all of these two wheel scooters)
  • Not suitable for riding on rocky surfaces or mountains – stick to smooth pavement or light gravel

What customers are saying:

packgout scooter review

The reviews for this scooter are mostly positive. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a few negative reviews, because there are a few one star reviews too. Unfortunately with all these scooters, there seem to be a few duds, no matter who the manufacturer or seller is. The main thing to remember is that there IS a warranty (double check with your chosen seller to make sure they offer a valid warranty because not all sellers do).

Overall verdict

Looking at the features, the pros and the cons of the Packgout self balancing scooter review, you can assume that this self balancing scooter is extremely useful and suitable for a fun ride. At such an affordable price this product is a really nice buy and a must have for anyone who wants an easy way to get around as well as for kids who enjoy riding.  It’s far from the most popular scooter, but is a good one if you’re looking for a pocket friendly self balancing scooter – just make sure you order from a seller that offers a warranty (this should be at least 6 months).

Locas W1 2 Wheel Self Balancing Scooter Review

locas w1

The Locas W1 self balancing scooter is one of the many two wheel electric scooters available at the moment. The price and specs are pretty similar to many others on the market and for the most part this seems to be a pretty good product with a 6 month warranty. It’s not the most popular scooter available but it’s still good value for money and even has a few extra features that some other models on the market don’t have. This Locas W1 scooter review will tell you everything you need to know about this product.

First let’s take a quick look at what you get:

Features:

  • Comes in 6 different colors – black, gold, white, green red and blue
  • Weight: 10kg
  • Maximum speed: 10km/h
  • Maximum load: 100kg
  • Maximum distance (when fully charged): 10km
  • Maximum climbing angle: 20 degrees
  • Battery: Li-ion battery 36V, 4.4AH
  • Charging time: 1-2 hours
  • Range per charge: 20-30km
  • Size: 584 x 186 x 178mm

  • No pollution and low power consumption
  • Battery status display (not all models have this and it is quite useful – most scooters run for about 30 minutes before needing charged, but it’s convenient to know exactly when your power is going to run out).
  • Auto power off if you lose control (another good feature that not ever scooter has – especially good for younger or older riders who may be a bit unsure with balance)
  • It is small, lightweight, and portable.
  • It does have a reasonable warranty – 1 year for the main board and 6 months for the motor and battery
  • This comes with a FREE noise cancelling headphones and a FREE carry bag!

Cons

  • Like every other scooter currently on the market it scratches easily.

What Are Customers Saying?

There are very few Locas W1 two wheel self balancing electric scooter user reviews for this product yet so it’s hard to judge whether or not this is a good buy. The truth is that it’s far from the best rated. There are a few positive reviews though, and those that rated it highly are very happy with their scooter. There are a few negative 1 star reviews – some people find that the board broke easily and there’s a review stating that it stopped charging after just 2 days.

Verdict

The Locas W1 has mixed reviews but for the most part seems to be quite a good scooter with some useful features like ‘battery status display’ that not every other model has. There are a few reviewers saying theirs broke, but that can happen with any scooter (some are more easily broken than others though). There is a 6 month warranty on the motor and battery, and 12 month warranty on the board which means you can at least get a replacement if something goes wrong – you may have to jump through a few hoops first though (one reviewer stated she had to unscrew the back and take a picture of the motherboard so that they could decide whether or not to replace it). It comes with a free carry bag and free noise-canceling headphones as a nice added bonus.

Celebrity Hoverboard Videos

This article is just a compilation of some of the many videos available online of celebrities on their hoverboard scooters. Most of these are really short (less than 30 secs) so it won’t take long if you want to check them out.

Cheryl Fernandez Versini (UK X factor judge) was spotted tentatively trying the two wheel self balancing scooter backstage. She looked a bit nervous but Nick Grimshaw (UK DJ and X Factor Judge) was on hand to help her off it. Full story on the Daily Mail.

Justin Bieber and his friends don’t walk around the mall – they ride on IO Hawks!

Here’s another video of Justin and his friends on their 2 wheel scooters playing with Nerf guns and riding around his house in LA. It’s fair to say that they are a bit obsessed with his IO Hawk!

Jessica Alba’s husband Cash Warren spotted riding an IO Hawk in Malibu, California on 4th July.

Chris Brown showing us that this scooter’s not just for riding – you can dance too. He’s got the moves!

Jamie Foxx and Jimmy Fallon try out the 2 wheel electric scooter on the Tonight Show.

Kendall Jenner glides around the house on her scooter but has a little accident at the end of this video!

Footballer Karim Benzema is also a fan of the swegway.

Kourtney Kardashian is a cool mom as she rides around the house on a white mini Segway.

A great way to use the self balancing scooter – to do your shopping. Wiz Khalifa shows us how its done as he speeds around the store with his trolley.

As you can see, this is definitely the celebrities ‘toy’ of choice. Although celebrities love the more expensive brands IO Hawk and Phunkeeduck there are plenty of cheaper options on the market that do the same thing, so don’t be put off by the price.

For around $400-500 you too can look ‘cool’ and show off by posting videos of yourself riding your two wheel self balancing electric scooter on Youtube and Instagram! Check out some of our reviews here on this site to see which one is best for you.

Swagtron T1 Vs T3 – Which Should You Choose?

Right now, one of the ONLY UL certified self-balancing scooters on the market is the Swagway Swagtron, and it comes in two different models, the T1 and the T3. If you haven’t jumped on the hoverboard bandwagon yet, now’s a great time to get one.

The next generation hoverboards that are available right now are stronger, more durable, better quality, and most importantly of all, they’re safer!

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING A HOVERBOARD

Before we really dive into the two Swagtron models below, we should first discuss what you should be considering as you choose your hoverboard. This is important for both beginners and experts with a bit more experience.

First of all, always be aware of where you are buying the device from. At the end of 2015, many online sites, Amazon included, actually pulled most hoverboard models from all third-party sellers due to safety concerns.

Next, you will want to ensure the hoverboard you choose is of good quality and performance. Compare the models from each year, and you will find that they continue to get better as we move into the future of hoverboards. Many are becoming UL Certified, smartphone apps are being launched, and the batteries and control systems of the newer hoverboards are improving and are able to meet the UL standard.

WHAT IS A UL CERTIFICATION?

UL is just one of several companies focused on safety and safety testing. The safety testing for UL Certification is performed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Having a UL Certification is important because it means that the product- in this case, a hoverboard- has gone through safety testing and has been assessed against UL requirements and has been found to be safe for consumers.

Now let’s get into taking a closer look at two hoverboard models from a few years ago.

In this article, we’re going to look at the Swagtron T1 vs. T3 so that you can see the differences for yourself and decide which one is right for you. First of all, let’s look at some of the features that are common to both:

SWAGWAY SWAGTRON HOVERBOARD FEATURES

The following are some of the features of BOTH models:

  • UL 2272 certification – this is a big step forward for the hoverboard industry. Newer models that have this certification are safe. No more fires or battery explosions!
  • Hard plastic, nonflammable, outer body casing
  • Patented Sentry Shield multilayer battery protection – the battery is encased in a fireproof chamber for added protection
  • Different riding modes – learners’ mode for when you’re getting started and more advanced modes for when your more confident and want to reach top speeds.
  • Bright LED lights
  • Both of the models use the same gyroscopic technology to steer and move forward and in reverse. They are also both relatively easy to control
  • These two models are both equipped with rubber bumpers to help prevent any damage from occurring on the outside of the hoverboard while it is in use

SWAGTRON T1 VS T3 – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Now let’s take a look at some of the differences between the Swagtron T1 model and the swagtron t3 model. Upon a quick look, both models definitely appear very similar to each other. They both share the same weight range and maximum load weights, for example.

But as you start to dissect the two to find the differences, you will discover that the newer model, the T3, is actually equipped with a few more features than its older brother, the T1.

Availability

The Swagtron T1 hoverboard was released on May 31st, 2016 and is for sale on many of the top online marketplaces. This is the only self-balancing scooter available on the official website, eBay, Best Buy and many other stores.

The swagtron t3 was released on July 1st and is usually available on Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Modells and others.

The T1 is very similar in design to the first generation hoverboards that were on sale in 2015 – it does, however, feature better quality, harder ABS casing to minimize scratching and damage to the outer body and better non-slip foot pads for safer riding. It comes in 6 colors – white, black, blue, dark red, gold and pink.

The T3 has a completely unique look that you won’t find anywhere else. A new design feature is the built-in carry strap made from durable fabric; this makes it much easier to carry your hoverboard around when not in use.

Features

Here I’m just going to discuss the extra features of the swagtron t3 – these are NOT available with the T1.

  • Built-in Bluetooth speakers – this is one of the only Bluetooth hoverboards on the market at the moment with UL 2272 certification. Sync the hoverboard up with your mobile device, and you can listen to your favorite music while riding your two-wheeled scooter.
  • Built-in carrying strap underneath the board for easier transportation and convenience
  • The Swagtron App – monitor your battery status, track route history, or contact customer service through the mobile app now available with the T3 model.
  • The T1 only has two riding modes (learning mode and standard mode) whereas you get three riding modes with the T3 – learning mode, standard mode and advanced.

Price

The Swagtron T1 is priced around the 0 mark while the swagtron t3 model price hovers around the 0 mark. However, the extra money you pay will buy you the amazing additional features we just described.

SO, WHICH SHOULD I BUY?

As you can see, the Swagtron T1 is the standard hoverboard model. This is for you if you just want a good quality, affordable hoverboard without any of the bells and whistles. Most people will opt for this one just because they won’t need any of the extras that the T3 offers, so why pay the extra $100?

The Swagtron T1 is a suitable hoverboard choice for all ages (bearing in mind the height and weight requirements), but we think this will definitely be very popular with the majority of hoverboard buyers, especially parents buying for their kids.

The T3 is for advanced two-wheeled scooter users, those looking for something a bit extra. Built-in Bluetooth, built-in speaker, an expert riding mode (as well as the learning mode and standard modes), an app and the built-in carry strap make this the most advanced UL certified hoverboard on the market right now. At its higher price point, it’s approximately $100 more than the T1, but that won’t deter those who want the extra features.

Also, it’s still a very good price for safety because many of the more expensive models (that cost $1000+) haven’t yet been UL approved and do not always hold a UL Certification.
